@annemscheel In General my feeling is that a lot of info from methods (and results) sections could be communicated much more clearly in something other than free text. The idea of papers being written in free text is deeply ingrained in our minds, but maybe not always best
@Barbarabarbaber I’m getting myself even more confused this year: I’m currently in India, which doesn’t do DST. So when I came here, it was 3.5h time difference, but when i travel back to Germany in a week, it’ll be 4.5 h time difference.
@briancurran50@jgault13 Depends on what country you mean 😅 I’m not American. But I have the impression that track runners who transition to marathons later have better longevity. Positive examples: Kipchoge, Bekele. Negative examples: Kimetto, Ryan Hall. Very small sample size though
@KordingLab It’s not a one-dimensional question. Suggesting that it is (like the question does) doesn’t help anyone. Both have pros and cons. And “It’s ok. I guess.” doesn’t really cover that.
@BenediktEhinger Yes, that leads down a whole different rabbit’s hole on everything that is wrong with the publishing and peer-review system in general 😅 It’s just so frustrating. As I’ve come to say: I miss science terribly, but I’m so glad to be out of academia 😢
Got my first reviewing request since leaving academia yesterday. I sent a polite response, asking what the financial compensation for my time investment would be. I don't think I will receive any more requests from that journal 😅 (1/5)
