MLB Late Night Spellcast🪄🧙♂️
Michael King under 5.5 Strikeouts
(-112 DK / -114 FD / -118 CZR | 1.12 units)
Another stupid line vs the Brewers: yes, please.
There were 2 high strikeout targets against the Brewers: Tyler Black and Garrett Mitchell.
With Yelich coming off the IL, Tyler Black was sent down to AAA. That leaves Mitchell, who has been brutal for the Brewers in the last month. I would not be surprised if Bauers or Perkins play for him tomorrow, as he struck out 3 times yesterday vs Waldron and others.
Pat Murphy talked after Saturday’s win vs the Yankees about how he felt the Brewers were chasing too many pitches and not being disciplined enough (mind you, Brewers are a top 5 team in K% and Whiff%). Since then, starters vs. the Brewers have recorded 4 Ks and 3 Ks vs. Milwaukee.
That leaves this projected lineup vs King:
League Average: 24 K% - 26% Whiff Rate
Turang: 21 K% - 17% Whiff Rate
Chourio: 17 K% - 16% Whiff Rate
Yelich: 21 K% - 25% Whiff Rate
Contreras: 7 K% - 13% Whiff Rate
Bauers: 22 K% - 27% Whiff Rate
Sanchez: 22 K% - 27% Whiff Rate
Frelick: 8 K% - 10% Whiff Rate
Rengifo: 11 K% - 18% Whiff Rate
Ortiz: 23 K% - 16% Whiff Rate
King has just one game with more than 6 strikeouts, and it was against a K target in the Angels. He hasn’t faced a bottom-half K% team vs RHP the ENTIRE SEASON! In 3 games against non-top 10 K% teams, he has 4, 5, and 6 strikeouts. He only had 5 whiffs vs the Pirates, and 12 whiffs vs the Red Sox and Tigers. That will not get it done vs the Brewers, especially when King’s chase rate is way below league average.
Only 5 righty starters this season have more than 6 strikeouts vs the Brewers this season. 3 of them have a fastball that goes beyond 97 MPH, and the other 2 were at home.
King would be the first pitcher to cover their high K line in Milwaukee with a fastball slower than 95 MPH. Good luck.
Never hated on GSW during their run. Even in real time. Only complaint was how stacked they got once KD went there. But that playstyle was beautiful and pushed the game forward
This shit OKC is doing is nasty to watch and a big reason why league viewership is crashing
I really just don’t understand how officials ref OKC. their guards are allowed to D up like a corner within 5 yards, allowed to be *extremely* physical. on top of that, they all flop like crazy. Chet’s on the ground holding his jaw like he was mugged, & refs reward the flopping. it’s the wildest contradiction & refs play into it every night. it makes no sense.
