@CoolestDudeOnX@alethia__23@catholicbird ... do you know what a gravestone is? The Big stone with the name and even possibly a title or quote on it. It isn't required for a body to be buried. It's exactly meant to remind people of who is buried below.
@CoolestDudeOnX@alethia__23@catholicbird Ah well now you've said to different things. Praying "to" and "before" a statue are very different.
Do I pray "to" the statue? No, no one does.
Do I pray to Mary in Heaven "before" the statue? Yes.
The statue is a reminder, just like a gravestone.
@CoolestDudeOnX@alethia__23@catholicbird What rule? There is no rule, but it is tradition. What rule is it make a gravestone for someone who has died?
The issue isn't "you're breaking a rule", the issue is you're gravely disrespecting a person (who also happens to be Christ's saintly mother).
@CoolestDudeOnX@alethia__23@catholicbird A person's gravestone honors them, and serves as a reminder of their life.
A statue of Mary honors her, and serves as a reminder of her life.
You understand that desecrating the first is evil, yet support desecrating the second.
@MitchMi68122792@HabitualLinest@truedaviejohn@MrCasey62 And how do you know "ego and pride" aren't "clouding your judgment"?
I don't understand how people can't see the total lack of logic and complete circular reasoning.
@WESELDER1977@thyflameoflove Mary was saved from sin by Jesus' death on the cross. But that doesn't mean she sinned.
Being kept from sinning is also a way of being saved. She was kept from sin to be the perfectly pure Ark that carried the Son of God.
@marimbalex27@GodlyAction You can reverse the argument just the same: if God and heaven don't exist, you could still "kill all babies" to prevent all human suffering, and everyone would just return to nothingness.
Yet even atheists understand there's something wrong with doing so.
@marimbalex27@GodlyAction Firstly, because murdering babies is a sin and would risk one's own damnation.
Secondly, because life on Earth is still worth living and God's will for us.
@ChristySimm23@Bearistotle1337@CatholicDrip___ I'm John 2:21-22, it literally states that they understood what he meant after it happened.
Talking about the spirit isn't a clarification that the Eucharist is not his body. The Eucharist is both his body AND spirit. So saying the Spirit gives life still insides the Eucharist.
@ChristySimm23@Bearistotle1337@CatholicDrip___ Regardless, that passage doesn't mean what's physical doesn't matter. Jesus' physical death on the cross is what saves us, right? The Body definitely matters in that way.
@ChristySimm23@Bearistotle1337@CatholicDrip___ .. when he says "This is my body".
He actually even questions and challenges them when they react: "Does this surprise you?".
And doubles down: "my flesh is real food, and my blood real drink".
This is why we don't depart from the Catholic Church. You're very open to error.
