The thing about this big new deal size/style economic agenda that progressives are advocating for is that it isn’t as simple as get a trifecta and let’s implement these policies
It’s a very complex process with a lot of moving parts to this
This is going to take time
Israel has the right to fully engage Hamas to its end.
Hamas deliberately harms and hides behind civilians, not Israel.
Until Hamas surrenders, frees the hostages, and ends this humanitarian tragedy, I do not support any conditions.
BTW on the off chance that democrats keep the the senate next congress and have another D trifecta the chances of democrats nuking or reforming the filibuster are remote
If he wins Florida that POTENTIALLY means democrats could be able to keep the senate
IF and this is a BIG if he’s right democrats could keep the senate “if” a candidate is able to run against Scott
It’s so ironic that Biden was the only candidate in 2020 that could have beaten Trump, but now in 2024, Biden is the only candidate that can lose to Trump
I think progressives need to stop thinking “okay how do we expand SCOTUS” and instead focus on something more gradual for example if SCOTUS makes a mistake or rules something that is constitutional unconstitutional or vice versa is there a remedy that can be fixed via congress
The most realistic and practical solution to reforming SCOTUS is the same approach that Lincoln used to abolish slavery in that he didn’t automatically say okay I support a bill that bans slavery instead he supported gradual changes
@G4M3R_R4G3 There’s a solution to this SCOTUS issue and that is to expand SCOTUS and put non partisan judges into those seats
Obviously the GOP will still be against this but it’s the most likely way to fix this issue
Does this dude realize that if democrats somehow were able to expand SCOTUS and make it a liberal SCOTUS he and other African Americans would have to deal with racial segregation and discrimination at levels not seen since before the civil rights movement
Biden has promised to “restore Roe” if re-elected. He’s also refused even to consider expanding the Supreme Court. That’s a problem, writes @ElieNYC, because you can’t be for abortion rights but against court expansion anymore. The two are now linked.

1/ These things take time to gain steam
1. it took about six decades between when the issue of slavery emerged to the election of Lincoln the Civil War and the reconstruction era to abolish slavery
2. It took about seven decades between when the issue of the robber barons
@gtjco Yep but remember this is going to take time it’s probably going to require an enormous crisis on the fault of the GOP for Democrats to get the kind of power needed to be able to fix this
2/ Emerged to the Great Depression to the election of FDR and the new deal era to end the era of the robber barons
It’s going to take another 20-30 maybe even 40 years for this issue to be resolved
Remember it’s going to take decades of debate then an existential crisis on
Do that and other red states secede and democrats will reconstruction era size trifectas and control 80% of the state legislatures for the next decade
They’ll dominate politics for the next 70 years
If that happens
