My essay on quantification & lynching in Ida B. Wells, Mark Twain, & W. E. B. Du Bois is published here; excited to see it alongside these other, excellent articles.
Many thanks to the expert editorial staff at @amlitjournal! Indispensable help & encouragement at all stages.
"'Multiplied without Number': Lynching, Statistics, and Visualization in Ida B. Wells, Mark Twain, and W. E. B. Du Bois" by @benjmurph is free to read through August in @amlitjournal. Read it here: https://t.co/mfmnlSb5pj
@jillian_kern@ForemanSavannah Perhaps the source of this cherished gift, @KatieNWalker, can shed some light on the identity of the subjects or provenance of the work? (For my part, I always assumed that this family is trapped in the painting in some Dorian Gray / Harry Potter portrait curse.)

@lpburrows So awful. On an election night of mixed emotions and results, seeing him succeed in NC was very sad indeed. The youngest member of congress and acts like it--a petulant child.
@upstaterica @majortominor Thank you for writing this. As horrific as this history is, it deserves exactly this level of precise contextualization. Glad to see so many excellent scholars cited, too. In particular, Goldsby's book is a masterpiece: it keeps giving no matter how many times I return to it.
Fantastic lineup of scholars of colour at all stages for #POC19! Brigitte Fielder @BrigField, Koritha Mitchell @ProfKori, Marissa Lopez, Jessica Horvath Williams, chaired by Jean Lee Cole @ProfJLC#mla21#c19amlit
Folks at #mla2021. I thought all sessions were being recorded so that participants could view videos 'on-demand,' but I can't find any recording/video links anywhere on the conference site.
Am I missing something? Are recordings simply not live yet? @MLAconvention
