Ryan Coogler's pilot episode for his series reboot of THE X-FILES for Hulu has been shot on 65mm film by Academy Award winner Autumn Durald Arkapaw.
Starring Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler as leads with a supporting cast including Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi and Ben Foster.
@BallParkBuzz I drive 2.5 hrs each way and pay $20 each for tix for 70mm IMAX. Not every movie needs to be seen in that format, but having seen Interstellar, Oppenheimer, Dune Part II and Project Hail Mary in it, I believe it works for the occasional splurge.
Really wish I saw Sinners in it.
Lots of interest in the "astrophage shower" sequence:
Fraser shot on an altered Alexa LF with its infrared filter removed (a technique he used on Dune 2 and Zero Dark Thirty). Tiny LEDs were placed on chicken wire, while pouring water in front of the lens refracted the light.
Update: Martin Scorsese's What Happens at Night has been officially registered with Czech authorities. Filming begins in Prague in two weeks, with additional shooting scheduled in New York in April. Cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto reunites with Scorsese. The cast features Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Mads Mikkelsen, and Patricia Clarkson.
last thing I'll say about THE ODYSSEY tickets is I've been wondering if, besides eventizing the movie, it's to help 15/70 theaters bankroll fixing projectors and hiring staff. all that was a (costly) nightmare on OPPENHEIMER, and this is a possible solution to that problem.
Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film.
“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since ‘Dr. No’ with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory,” Villeneuve said.
