Writer-type-person in the fantasy/horror space. Bonus points if the project has anything to do with cosmic horror, displaced families, and/or badass kids.
Writer brand:
I'm an American stay-at-home dad who moved to Canada just before COVID, so I put all my hopes and fears into horror/fantasy about what parents must do so their uprooted families can survive strange, terrifying worlds.

@tschrack Totally did. I enjoyed exchanging notes with you. And I get it - I felt bad about not giving notes on optional exchanges during a recent rewrite class, and it defo made it harder for me to hit my deadline.
While I may not be a “working” writer right now due to the strike, I had fun chatting screenwriting on THE WORKING WRITER podcast, where we got into whether you should direct on the page and how to grab people with your opening scene!

If SAG-AFTRA ends up joining us on the strike lines Thursday morning, my only advice is please don’t burn Imagine the first week. Save it. It’s gonna be a long hot summer. 🪧🪧🪧
I completely agree in principle with these actors. .#UnionStrong

There are no bad MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movies.
Oh, and Tom Cruise wasn’t lying during his COVID rant. He WAS shooting “the future of this fucking industry”. He and @chrismcquarrie have saved the movies. Again.
Frank Miller's "Frank the Chemist" cameo in Robocop 2 is a metaphor for how writers are treated...
--They're highly skilled...
--but unsung...
--without them, the company would have no product...
--and when shit goes wrong, they're left to die in a lab explosion.

@RICHARDLNEWBY Barbie, because it looks fresh. I'll see Oppenheimer at some point, eventually, just not in theaters.
Dittoing sentiments about kids and runtimes and such.
The first two things a reader does when they open your screenplay:
1) Check the page count
2) Check to see how dense the writing is.
They start reading your script with whatever emotion those two things give them.
The primary factor that determines both?
THE ACTION LINES
In THE FLASH, Gotham City has finally been cleaned up and freed of all crime, confirming what real fans have always known:
Michael Keaton’s Batman is the best Batman.
After watching this video, it certainly *FEELS* like SAG is going to make a deal with the AMPTP, so — when it comes to making REAL change in Hollywood — WGA writers are likely going to have to do what we always do for Actors and Directors:
Handle the rewrite.
Zaslav was only ever brought in to do exactly this, no? Allow the remainder of the Board to get away, hands clean, whilst Daddy Zas gets the slings and arrows and a nice fat Golden Parachute of outrageous fortune?
Fuckers are going to run everything to ground for another yacht?
The Bear is back. I've said this before. I'll say it again.
I can't say it enough:
If you're interested in developing your conflict writing, watch The Bear.
If you're looking for a show that's kind but gritty, watch The Bear.
Go read the pilot. Then watch The Bear again.
