Since this tweet. 2nd place in MVP. 2 seed. Reach the Super Bowl/Finals but have a rough showing on the big stage. Spurs fans now going to have to go to war for Wemby like we have to for Maye. I bet both will be back.
I can’t believe you’re still arguing. The Celtics so obviously have a late game problem. ‘24 was two years ago. They are 2-7 in close playoff games since. Nobody is asking them to go 9-0. Even 4-5 and PHI is out. It’s the inconsistency of being great when your greatest is needed.
It means not having these explosive missteps on your resume that I outlined for you previously. They’re not similar either. It’s one thing to lose a Game 7 by 20 or blow a 3-2 series lead, those things happen to someone every year (OKC), but what occurred last spring against the Knicks as defending champions was totally unacceptable. Going down 0-3 to a less talented Heat team while having home court is unacceptable. You don’t see those things happen ever. Being First Team all NBA and not winning ECF of Finals MVP is unprecedented and will be for years. Eliminate the insane swings of bad because he’s so good.
I’m disappointed that a year that was all about Celtics pride ended in having its identity snatched in its final five days. We have a lot of healing and work to do. Everything should be on the table. See you in the fall, where it will once again, be all about 19. (12/12)
Ok now that Brad has addressed the end of the season I guess it’s my time to put it to bed for good. What happened last week was utterly disgusting. Blowing a 3-1 lead and losing to the Sixers for the first time in 44 years is a stain that may never be removed. (1/12)
I’m proud of the players that took steps forward, for JB for carrying the torch in a dark time, and for Tatum giving us everything with his miraculous recovery. This shouldn’t be the end. I hope every person in that organization carries the weight of this for a while. (11/12)
It’s going to take me days if not weeks
to actually organize my final thoughts on the season but all I can say right now is I’ve never been so disgusted with the organization in my life. 1982. 44 fucking years. Losing to the Sixers isn’t the standard. Public embarrassment
Tonight is fascinating. Over the past 5 seasons, the Celtics have been the “home team” in 12/14 series. Yet only once have they been on the road up 3-2. (2023 Hawks) A shockingly unfamiliar spot for a team with a ton of experience. A mini legacy game for this era out of nowhere.
