NZ & Cook Islands bury the hatchet and aid flows again. NZ looks to have lost little ground in talks: Cooks agrees NZ has first rights as defence/security "partner of choice" in new declaration. Similar language to Aus-Tuvalu deal.

New Zealand walking a different path on cost of living relief, no cuts to fuel excise.
PM Chris Luxon says the policy is "poorly targeted, it actually benefits high income households, and it actually encourages fuel use when it's constrained".
We're halving the fuel tax for three months to save you money when you fill up.
Conflict overseas is pushing up prices at home. And we know Australians are feeling the pressure.
I'm very sad to announce that the great Dan McGarry @VanuatuDan passed away earlier today.
Dan was a journalist, tech geek, actor, and lover of (almost) everything to do with the Pacific. He was a brilliant @OCCRP editor, a mentor to many, and a friend to more.
Heather du Plessis-Allan not mincing words on Chris Luxon's future after the last Curia poll.
Says "poisonous" polls put Luxon in "dead man walking territory" - saying it may be "if not when" for a new leader.
wrote about the NZ PM's unpopularity yesterday ⬇️
didn't realise a fresh poll would mean - as multiple outlets are reporting - Luxon is considering his future after this latest poll.

@LewisHoldenNZ given he pauses between the claims I took them as separate claims. in any case Finland is arguably the answer to the combined claim - and indigenous women couldn't vote federally until the 1960s. so....
lotta pedants chirping about this! i took his comment as two separate claims, he pauses between them.
in any case, all women weren't given the vote by Australia in 1902: indigenous women were disenfranchised for decades.
Mark Carney clanger to Australian parliament: "Let us remember that Australia was the first nation in the world to give women the right to vote and to stand for parliament.”
Whoops! New Zealand first to give all women the vote. (though South Australia got in first on standing)
