Not that I'm planning on dying anytime soon, but please don't say "rest in power" when I do. I am an unabashed supporter of liberal democracy, and in that system power is constrained and widely distributed. I don't want too much of it, and am a better citizen if I am reluctant to exercise it. Power as a virtue is better suited to feudalistic societies, or hobbesian arrangements that rely on raw and arbitrary violence to order society.

Also it sounds like the kind of pseudo revolutionary garbage midwits in the faculty lounge say.

Are immigrants really the relevant coalition here? Sadly, socialism is broadly popular right now, especially when peddled by a charismatic pol like Mamdani. His support is also higher among the wealthy and college educated. I think the Occams Razor explanation here is that he’s running a much better campaign and he’s likable.
