SAFETY REMINDER: RATTLESNAKES ARE ACTIVE!
With warmer weather settling into our area, rattlesnakes are becoming increasingly active throughout the Eastern Plains. Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue has already responded to and transported a patient for a rattlesnake bite this season, and we encourage everyone to remain vigilant while spending time outdoors.
Prompt medical treatment is critical. Anti-venom is highly effective when administered by medical professionals, so do not delay seeking care.
Stay safe, stay alert, and be mindful of your surroundings as you enjoy the outdoors this summer.
Mental health matters — on and off the fireground. 💚
At Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue, we recognize the importance of supporting the mental wellness of our crews and our community. The calls we respond to, the situations we face, and the stress carried behind the scenes can have a lasting impact.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind everyone that asking for help is a sign of strength — not weakness. You are never alone.
Thank you to our Peer Support Team and to all those who continue working to break the stigma surrounding mental health in the fire service. 🚒
Construction is officially beginning on the long-awaited training facility at Station 92! 🔥
This project represents an important investment in the future of Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue and the continued development of our firefighters, medics, and emergency responders. As our community grows and call volumes continue to increase, realistic hands-on training becomes even more critical to maintaining the level of service our community depends on.
Behind every call is a crew ready to answer—no matter the risk.
Today we celebrate the dedication, sacrifice, and heart of our firefighters at Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue.
You don’t do it for recognition… but you deserve it.
We see you. We thank you. We appreciate you.

Growth doesn’t stop — and neither do we.
Since 2020, our call volume has increased by 33.9% as our community continues to grow. More people, more development, and more demand for emergency response means preparing for what’s next.
Serving 365 square miles takes more than response — it takes training, equipment, facilities, and the resources to keep pace with a changing community.
We’re committed to staying ready today while planning for the future our district deserves.
Please use extra caution today:
• Avoid outdoor burning
• Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks
• Never toss cigarettes from vehicles
• Stay alert to changing weather conditions
One spark can start a fast-moving fire. Help us keep our community safe. 🚒
Don’t just fall back, fall into safety!
Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend, which means you get an extra hour of sleep (finally!). While you’re at it, take a few minutes to check and change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
That extra hour won’t mean much if your alarms don’t work when you need them most.
✅ Test each detector
✅ Replace old batteries
✅ Check expiration dates
✅ Replace smoke alarms every 10 years
✅ Replace CO alarms every 5 to 10 years, depending on the model
✅ Replace alkaline batteries twice a year
Sleep easy, stay safe, and enjoy that extra hour. You’ve earned it!

Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue, @AdamsCountySO, and @CSP_News are working a motor vehicle accident at Exit 304 on I-70. A single lane in both eastbound and westbound directions is closed. Expect delays, slow down, and move over for emergency crews.

🚫🔥 STAGE 1 BURN BAN – ARAPAHOE COUNTY 🔥🚫
For the safety of our community, @ArapahoeCounty is under a Stage 1 Burn Ban until further notice.
That means:
❌ No open burning of any kind without a permit from your fire district.
Why it matters:
Dry conditions, high winds, and warm temperatures can turn even a small spark into a dangerous wildfire. This ban helps protect lives, homes, and our firefighters.
📋 Learn more about the restrictions here: https://t.co/BXZRqvDPoy
Let’s work together to keep Bennett-Watkins and Arapahoe County safe. Your caution today can prevent tragedy tomorrow.
