Justin Avalos is officially the new head boys basketball coach at Eastlake High School.

The El Paso native heads to Eastlake after three seasons at El Dorado, where he helped build the Aztecs into a district contender.

Now, Avalos takes over one of the top programs in District 1-6A.

The amount of work and effort that Javier @ferminhermin has shown for the borderland is something really special. Your ability to eliminate all the white noise and focus in on the story at hand is what’s captivating. You have always brought a fair and respectful approach to all the athletics here in the borderland and we thank you 🙏. I would also like to thank you for covering CJs final couple of years , there were times where people may have written him off and left him out of these conversations due to injury & performance but you stayed the course and saw his true potential for the player that he is and could become and we thank you for reporting openly and honestly.
