@Marketplace@kairyssdal@raratan With a noise canceling headset, I can participate in a deep thoughtful conversation while sitting in a noisy coffee shop. Some parts of the audio metaverse are already here - Dr. Ratan is just showing the future
@abhisi_99@Metabob_App @jamesluopeng I'm glad you liked it! I tried to balance conceptual and coding, I leaned more on the former because without it, all your time on the latter would be wasted. Let me know if you have any questions on the presentation
@waltmossberg@ATT@TMobile In 1980 AT&T's summer internship was every bit as coveted as a Google internship is now. They were #1 in signal processing and speech recognition for decades. At a conference if AT&T presented, their session was full. Sad to see how far they have fallen!
@AlenKarabegovic I heard this on @marketplace but I recall that in 1983 student loans had few penalties for late payments, low interest, so many successful grads simply delayed payment as long as possible. Are those included in this statistic?
@andrewkun In 1994 Japan, it was considered it to be for hackers and gamers. Until the 1/17/1995 quake when internet was the best way to get messages to/from survivors.
@GlobeIdeas@JonLevyTLB In 2002 I worked with a person who commuted 2 hours each way by train. He was at the office 10-3, but on the train he was sending emails, scheduling meetings, making agendas. And reading. He was very effective as a manager.
@andrewkun@naz_andalibi And the TVs were advertising supplements and various pharmaceuticals "ask your doctor for ..." and the list of side effects was often read by TTS to ensure every syllable was spoken as fast as possible
@sarahkunst @mollywood@Marketplace user testing of prototypes is more through in more experienced companies, and often uncovers how a feature could be used maliciously. e.g. Tesla, a great company with less experience, has that small window that thieves have discovered https://t.co/H2GdUPCpbr
@DayYagura@DaveInOsaka Worst I experienced was 9/22/1998 in Kyoto and Nara. Roof tiles were flying, many trains stopped running https://t.co/Q2BzWSwLcH
@snappycupoftea @Carter_PE In the following days I was setting up our new house to move into, and following on the news. The only broadcaster who had anything insightful to say was the BBC Shortwave.
