Made it back onto my old account exactly two months after my phone died!
Sunsetting @benrotempberg now but thank you kind folks for joining me in my time of wandering in the wilderness!

Devastated to have to pull out with so much on the line. All I wanted was the chance to fight for my potential Turin spot but after getting scans today on my oblique it’s just not possible for me to play. Time to rehab and hope to be back on court as soon as I can be ❤️🩹
Considerable surprise after the huge success Coco Gauff had with Pere Riba in recent months...
...but also she's not the only player in recent years to make a coaching change shortly after a Slam win.
With his fourth win over Andy Murray today, Alex de Minaur is the first ATP player since 2016 to beat the same guy in all four tour conditions in a single year.
Potentially hot take:
If you want to go to a tennis tournament in Paris, the one I would recommend most heartily is Bercy, not Roland Garros.
Just a great venue, great production, and always strong lineups. The second court at Bercy is especially tremendous.
Important context/facts to know before assigning blame. Understandable a player wants the venue ready upon arrival but also worth noting that player may not have been able to compete in the alternative host city & it’s Player Council that voted for Cancun

Our guy @Dimonator is in town for the marathon, and we are going to be recording our annual men’s tennis year end wrap show in a couple days.
If you have questions about anything ATP in 2023 (or 2024?) please send them!
For sure. But I again chalk that up to the lack of time to sell and promote.
Acapulco is a similar city to Cancun but always packs it out annually for night matches.
Great win for Jessica Pegula to open up the WTA Finals in Cancun, beating Rybakina 7-5, 6-2.
Quality of the match was good, and the venue looks good, but that’s a pretty small crowd for Mexico which usually turns out in force for night tennis…
…Blame, blowing around like the Cancun wind, should go to the WTA for its repeated failure to pick locations for its signature year-end tournament in anything like a timely fashion.
*Three years* in a row that the WTA Finals venue was unknown during the US Open! Not acceptable.
Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner entered three ATP 500 hardcourt events together in 2023. Here’s how each of them ended:
Rotterdam - Medvedev vs Sinner final
Beijing - Medvedev vs Sinner final
Vienna - Medvedev vs Sinner final
Hurkacz wins in Basel but fell hard on his right hand near the end of that match, used his left hand to fist bump Lahyani instead of the normal right-handed handshake.
Some concern then for the final, which has major Race implications.
So great that this Rublev-Sinner Vienna semifinal, a meeting between the two premier tennis gingers of the era, is held where gingers are in their natural habitat:
Indoors.
