The genetic results indicate that both share the Y chromosome haplogroup E1b1a, which is common in Sub-Saharan populations, suggesting a paternal relationship. However, the study does not conclude that ancient Egyptians in general were of black descent, but instead presents specific data about these individuals. Additionally, there are other broader studies, with analyses of more mummies, that show that ancient Egyptians were not Sub-Saharan, but genetically resembled modern Egyptians more closely.
