More playing with new materials. Kept this one simple with padauk bent around a black ceramic core. I love the color of padauk. I'm keeping this one for myself.
Wrapped up another "Churros!" ring that ships out today. Rose quartz is always super challenging to work with, but I really like its subtlety as an inlay.
First time ever working with gold wire for an inlay. Not sure why, but working with it made me really nervous, but I sure love me a challenge. The stone is crushed sapphire and the wood is macassar ebony.
Wrapped up the finish on a "Churros!" ring... Cherry with a rose quartz inlay. Rose quartz is super challenging to get to show up right. What tricks do you have?
Just finished this one off while at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds Fall Craft Fair. Pearwood and purpleheart carved with inlays in turquoise and howlite. I'll be here all weekend.
If I'm going to be at this event next month at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, then I better have a sign. Picked up this pockmarked piece of maple and took my woodburner to it.
So... I'm stepping out into the real world a bit. I've gone and signed myself up as a craft vendor at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds Fall Craft Fair. If you find yourself near the border of Georgia and North Carolina next month, come out and see me!
Got a bit of audio gear and needed a place to hang it. Sure, I could've just made a shelf or hook, but this was may more fun. Old 3D sculpt, some 3D printing, a little primer, some texture paint, and a dowel rod. Pretty happy the way it all came together.

Remember that mount I designed for helping me carve rings? Well, you can get your own now. You just need to print it yourself. Files and explanation are on Thingiverse:

Cold and damp outside, so I brought this piece back out to work on. Planning on filling the "sky" with crushed lapis. The eagle is cattle horn and the ring is walnut.
Weather wasn't cooperating so I took a little time to carve this tree spirit in a scrap of wood I'd found a while back. See replies for stills and WIP shots.

Made this quick little experiment for myself. Smoked eucalyptus plays a bit like tiger eye in the light. Hard as hell to capture in a still photo, though. The liner is padauk. Love the color of that. Definitely going to make more rings with these materials. Still image in reply.
