Today H.E. Osman Saleh, Foreign Minister of #Eritrea, met with Massad Fares Boulos, @US_SrAdvisorAF #US Senior Advisor for African Affairs to President Donald J. Trump @POTUS , to discuss avenues for renewed engagement between the two nations.

The high-level meeting, held on the margins of the 80th Session of the @UN general Assembly in New York, reflects a mutual interest in exploring opportunities for partnership. Both sides emphasized the importance of constructive engagement, dialogue, and collaboration on regional stability, security, and economic development.

H.E. Osman Saleh underscored #Eritrea’s readiness to engage in meaningful discussions that respect national sovereignty while exploring areas of common interest, particularly in the Horn
of Africa, the Nile Basin and the Red Sea.

Minister Osman Saleh re-iterated #Eritrea’s commitment to regional peace and sustainable development and welcomed the opportunity to assess potential avenues for cooperation with the #UnitedStates .

Mr. Massad Fares Boulos highlighted the United States’ interest in fostering dialogue and understanding in a region vital to international trade, security, and counterterrorism efforts. This engagement could pave the way for a new chapter in U.S. - Eritrea relations, potentially opening doors for dialogue on trade, investment, infrastructure, transportation, communication and security partnerships, while addressing longstanding concerns in a constructive framework.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to continue exchanges in the coming months, signaling a cautious but hopeful start to renewed bilateral relations.

ኣብ ዝሓለፈ ክፋል ናይዚ ጽሑፍ’ዚ፡ ከም መቐጸልታ ናይቲ ንህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያ ብጽንጽዋያዊ ታሪኽ ኣታሊልካ ናብ ሓዊ ንምጥባስ፡ ብኢትዮጵያውያን ምሁራትን ፖለቲከኛታትን ዝተኻየደ ሰፊሕ ናይ ምትላል ስራሕ፡ ኣብዚ እዋን’ዚ ወፍሪ ጥምዘዛ ታሪኽ ካብ ዝካየደሉ ዘሎ ፍጻመ፡ እቲ ነዊሕ ዘይገበረ፡ ኣብ ዘመነ ምዕቡል ቴክኖሎጂ ብድምጺ፡ ስእልን ጽሑፍን ተወሪዑ ዝተሰነደ ታሪኻዊ ፍጻመ ረፈረንዱም 1993 ምህሳስን ዘይመልክዑ ምሃብን ምዃኑ ተመልኪትና። ገለ ኢትዮጵያውያን ጸሓፍቲ ኣብ ግዜ ረፈረንደም ንህዝቢ ኤርትራ ዝቐረበሉ ሕቶ ብዝምልከት ዝጸሓፉዎ ሓሶት እውን ርኢና። ብኣንጻሩ ናይ ገለ ተዓዘብቲ ምስክርነት እውን ኣንቢብና። መቐጸልታኡ ይስዕብ፦

ንዋና ጸሓፊ ውድብ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ወኪሉ ኣብ ረፈረንደም ኤርትራ 1993 ዝተሳተፈ ሚስተር ሰሚር ሳምባር፡ እቲ መስርሕ ምስ ተወደአ ከምዚ ዝስዕብ ምስክርነቱ ሂቡ ነይሩ፦

“ጒጅለ ተዓዘብቲ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ኣብ ኤርትራ ኣብ ኵለን ወረዳታት ተዓዘብቲ ብምልኣኽ ካብ 23 ክሳዕ 25 ሚያዝያ ኣብ ዘለዋ መዓልትታት ካብ 1014 ድምጺ መውሃቢ ነቚጣታት ኣብ ኵለን እኳ እንተዘይኰነ ንዝበዝሓ ዓሚሙወን እዩ። ካብ 21 ሃገራት ዝተዋጽአ 21 ኣባላት ዝነበሩዎ ቀንዲ ናይ ተዓዘብቲ ጒጅለ ኣብ መጀመርታ ለካቲት ኣብ ዝነበራ መዓልትታት እዩ ናብ ኤርትራ ዝኣተወ። ሓደ ሰሙን ቅድሚ ድምጺ ምሃብ ምጅማሩ፡ 100 ተዓዘብቲ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ተወሲኾሞም። ብጠቕላላ 38 ሃገራት ተወኪለን። ብተወሳኺ ኣብ ኢትዮጵያን ሱዳንን ዝነብሩ ኤርትራውያን ዘካይዱዎ ምርጫ ንምጽራይ ካብ 40 ንላዕሊ ተዓዘብቲ ተላኢኾም ነበሩ። ... ብመሰረት ጒጅለ ተዓዘብቲ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ዝገበሮ ገምጋም፡ ከም ፍሉይ ወኪል ዋና ጸሓፊ፡ ብሓፈሻ ኣብ ኤርትራ ዝተኻየደ መስርሕ ረፈረንደም፡ ነፍሲ ወከፍ መስርሕ፡ ናጻን ፍትሓውን ነይሩ ክበሃል ከምዝኽእልን መስርሕ ረፈረንደም ከም ዘዕገበኒ ከረጋግጽ ከለኹ ክብሪ ይስመዓኒ። (The United Nations Department of Public Information. ከምኡ ድማ ተዓዛቢ ልኡኽ ውድብ ሓድነት ኣፍሪቃ፡ ብመራሒኡ ኣምባሳደር ፓፓ ልዊ ፎል ኣቢሉ ረፈረንደም ኤርትራ ናጻን ፍትሓውን ምንባሩ ኣብ ጸብጻቡ (Docum­ment 27) መስኪሩ። ቀጺሉ ኣምባሳደር ፎል ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ነቲ ዝነበሮ ድምጺ ናይ ምሃብ ናጽነት ብሰላማውን ብዘይ ዝዀነ ምፍርራሕን ጭንቀትን ከምዘካየዶ መስኪሩ።

መስርሕ ረፈረንደም ምስ ተወደአ ኮሚሽን ረፈረንደም ኤርትራ ኣብቲ ዘዳሉዎ ዝነበረ ቡለቲን ተዓዘብቲ ዝሃቡዎ ምስክርነት ሰኒዱ ይርከብ። ሒደት ካብኣቶም ከምዚ ዝስዕብ ኢሎም ነይሮም፦

ኣብ ሰለስቲአን ናይ ምድማጽ መዓልታት፡ ጒጅለና ንሓንቲ’ኳ ስርዓት ኣካይዳ ምርጫ ረፈረንደም ዝጥሕስ ተግባር ኣይረኣየን። ናይቶም ሰብ መዚ ብቕዓት ኣሰራርሓን ዘይሻርነታውነትን ድማ ኣዝዩ መሲጡኒ። ብሓቂ ዝነኣድ ኣብነታዊ ዕማም። ዮሃና። - ሚስተር ኮሊን ለጉዩም (ዓዲ እንግሊዝ)

ብተወሳኺ ትካል ኣፍሮ-ኣመሪካ ብመሰረት ትዕዝብትታቱን ምስክርነቱን ብከምዚ ዝስዕብ ኣስፊሩ ይርከብ፥

ስለዚ ኢትዮጵያውያን ጸሓፍቲ ኮሎኔል ኣስናቀን መሰልቶምን ዕላማኦም እንታይ ምዃኑ ብዘየገድስ ዘይነበረ ክዉንነት ክፈጥሩ ካብ ደለዩ ጒዳዮም እዩ። ህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያ ግን ግዳይ ግጉይ ታሪኽ ክኸውንን ብኡ ተደሪኹ ድማ ኣብ ልዕሊ ፈታዊኡን ጐረቤቱን ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ኣሉታዊ ስእሊ ክህሉዎን ስለዘይግባእ ነዞም ጸሓፍቲ ንጐኒ ብምግዳፍ፡ እቲ ሓቂ ክን ገሮ ይግባእ።

ድሌት ህዝቢ ኤርትራ እንታይ ምንባሩን እንታይ ከምዝኾነን ብሕጽር ዝበለ ክምለስ ይከኣል’ዩ። ድሌት ህዝቢ ኤርትራ እንታይ ምንባሩ፡ ደቁ፡ ንብረቱ፡ ጉልበቱ፡ ገንዘቡን ግዜኡን ንዕጥቃዊ ቃልሲ ብምውፋይ ኣረጋጊጹ’ዩ። ካልእ፡ ምስክርነት ኣምበይ መድለዮን። እቶም መወዳድርቲ ኣልቦ ዕማም ዓሚሞም ዓለም ረፈረንደም ኤርትራ ክትቅበልን ክትዕዘብን ዝገበሩ ተቓለስቲ መንእሰያት እኮ፡ ካብ ካልእ ፕላኔት ዝመጽኡ ፍጡራን ኣይነበሩን። ብውሑዱ፡ ኣብ ትሕቲ መግዛእቲ ሃይለስላሰን ደርግን ኣደታቶም፡ ኣቦታቶም፡ ኣሕዋቶም፡ ኣሓቶም፡ ኣዕሩኽቶም፡ ኣዝማዶም፡ ጐረባብቶም … ወዘተ. ክሳቕዩን ክቕተሉን እናረኣዩ ዝዓበዩን ጸበባኡን ራህዋኡን ዝካፈሉ ዝነበሩን ፍረ ኣብራኹ እዮም።

እቲ ህዝቢ ነቶም ሰብ ዝበልዑ ዝነበሩ ስርዓታት ንምውዳቕን ናጽነቱ ንምውሓስን ደቁ ናብ በረኻ ምስ ወፈሩ ባዕሉ እናሓለዎም፡ ካብ ዘላቶ ምስኦም እናተኻፈለ፡ ባዕሉ ተዋጋኢ፡ ኣዋጋኢ፡ መዕቈቢ፡ ምንጪ ሓበሬታ . . ወዘተ ብምዃን እኮ እዩ፡ ጽምኣት ናጽነቱ ዘርኣየ። እቶም “ድሌታትካ ባዕልና ንፈልጠልካ” ብምባል፡ ንህዝቢ ኤርትራ ክነግሩዎ ቍሩብ ሕፍረት ዘይስመዖም ገለ ገለ ምሁትንን ፖለቲከኛታትን ኢትዮጵያ፡ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ጽምኣቱ ንናጽነት ከመይ ከምዝነበረ ንኸርኢ ካብኡ ንላዕሊ እንታይ ክገብር እዮም ዝጽበዩዎ? ብኣጽዋር ኲናት ተገዲድካ ናጽነት በል ተባሂሉ ምባል እንታይ ዓይነት ድንቊርና እዩ።

ስነ-ልቦናዊ ኣቋውማ ኤርትራውያን ንምርዳእ፡ ኤርትራዊ ምዃን ይሓትት’ዩ። ኤርትራዊ ስነ-ልቦና ንምውናን ድማ ኣብ ማእከል እቲ ህዝቢ ኴንካ፡ ሕልሙ፡ ሓጐሱ፡ ሓዘኑ፡ ስቓዩ፡ ኣስተንትኖኡ፡ ቋንቋኡ፡ ፍቕሩ፡ ጽልኡ... ወዘተ ምክፋል ወሳኒ ረቛሒ’ዩ። እሞ እዞም ዘልዓልናዮም ጸሓፍቲ ድኣ ነየናይ ሸነኹ ስለዝማቐሉ’ዮም፡ ክሳዕ ክንድኡ ብድርቅና ድሌታትካ እዝን እትን እዩ፡ ኢሎም ክነግሩዎ ዝሕልኑ? ኣብ ውሽጢ ልቡ ክኣትዉን ኣትዮም ባህግታቱ ክነቡን ዘይተበገሱ ክነሶም፡ ብኸመይ’ዮም ብደገደገ ህርመት ልቡ ሰሚዖምን ነቢቦምን ደፋር ገምጋም ክገብሩ ክኢሎም፧ የተሓሳስበካ!

እቶም ሕብረ-ብዙሓን ዝነበሩ ተዓዘብትን እተን ካብ ዝተፈላለያ ሃገራት (እንተላይ ኢትዮጵያ) ዝመጽኣ መራኸቢ ብዙሓንን ጥራሕ እዮም ንሓቀኛ ስምዒት ህዝቢ ኤርትራን ነቲ ብሓርነት ዘካየዶ መስርሕ ረፈረንደምን ክምስክሩሉ ዝኽእሉ። እተን ካብ ዝተፈላለያ ሃገራት ዝመጽኣ’ሞ፡ ናይ ዓይኒ ምስክርነተን ክህባ ዝኽኣላ መራኸቢ ብዙሃን እዘን ኣብ ሰሌዳ ቀሪበን ዘለዋ እየን።

እዚ ዝረአ ዘሎ ሓበሬታ፡ ዓይነት ናይተን መራኸቢ ብዙሓን ደኣ’ምበር፡ ብዝሒ ናይ ጋዜጠኛታት ኣይኮነን ዘመልክት ዘሎ። ንኣብነት ንኢትዮጵያ ወኪሎም ዝመጽኡ 11 ጋዜጠኛታት ነይሮም (10 ናይ መንግስትን ሓንቲ ናይ ውልቅን)። ክንድዚኣተን ዝኣኽላ መራኸቢ ብዙሃን ዝተሳተፍኦን ዝመስከራሉን መስርሕ ረፈረንደም ዝተኻየደለን ሃገራት - ብዘይካ ኣብ ኤርትራ - ይህልዋዶ’ኾን ይኾና?

ኣቶ ታየ ቦጋለ ዝተባህለ ጽሓፋይ (ታየ ቦጋለ. (2019). መራራ እውነት (በኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ). ዐዲስ አበባ.፡ ገጽ 384-385) ድማ ብወገኑ ንመስርሕን መንፈስን ረፈረንደም ብዘነኣእስ መገዲ ከምዚ ዝስዕብ ኢሉ ንረኽቦ፥

“. . . ኤርትራ ኣብ ታሪኽ ዓለም ተራእዩ ብዘይፈልጥ መልክዕ ንህዝባ - እንተገደደ፦ ‘ምፍንጫል ወይስ ሕብረት?’ ዝብል ኣማራጺ ክቐርበሉ ዝግባእ፦ “ናጽነት ወይስ ባርነት?” ዝብል ምርጫ ቀሪቡሉ፤ ኣብ ውሽጢ ኢትዮጵያ ከይተረፈ ኤርትራውያን ድምጾም ክህቡ ክግበር ከሎ … ኢትዮጵያ፡ ኤርትራ ወይ ናብቲ ናይ ቅድም ውሳነ ውድብ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ክትምለስ ምሕታት፤ ወይ ድማ ብዛዕባ’ተን ክልተ ወደባት ክትዛተ ዝግባእ - ብኣንጻሩ መሪቓ መራሪቓ ብምሃብ፤ ካብ ኩለን ሃገራት ዓለም ጭሩ ከይቀደመታ ኣፍልጦ ሃበት።”

እዚ ምሁር’ውን፡ ነቲ ኮሎኔል ኣስናቀ ዝበሉዎ’ዩ ደጊሙ ዘሎ። እዚ ጸሓፋይ ኣብ ዝበሎ ድማ ካልእ መስሓቕን መስደመምን ነጥቢ ኣሎ። ኢትዮጵያ፡ ነቲ ባዕላ ዘፍረሰቶ ፈደረሽን ድሕሪ ሰላሳ ዓመት ‘ትጒሽተተይ’ ኢላ ክትምለሶ ክትሓትት ነይሩዋ፡ ዝብል መጐተ ኣልዒሉ ንረኽቦ። ኣቶ ታየ፡ ኣብዚ ጉዳይ ድርብ መዐየሪ (double standard) ክጥቀም ከምዝደለየ ግሁድ እዩ። ኣብ መጽሓፉ ኣብ ገጽ 384፡ ፈደረሽን ፈሪሱ ኤርትራ ምስ ኢትዮጵያ ክትጽንበር ዝተገብረሉ መገዲ፡ ንጉስ ሃይለስላሰን ኣመሪካን ብዝገበሩዎ ምስጢራዊ ስምምዕ እዩ ኢሉ ከምዝኣምን ጽሒፉ ንረኽቦ። እሞ፡ ሃይለስላሰ ባዕሎም ዘፍረሱዎ ፈደረሽን ድኣ፡ ብኸመይ መገዲ’ዩ ዳግማይ ህይወት ክዘርእ ነይሩዎ፡ ዝብል ዘሎ? ምስ ገዛእ ነብሱ ምግርጫው ካብ መረጸ፡ ዝግበር ነገር የለን። እቲ “ጓልዶ ምስ ኣዲኣ ውዕል ዝምድና ትገብር’ያ?” ተባሂሉ ፈደረሽን ንኽፈርስ ከም መመኽነይታ ዝቐረበ ሓሳብ ድሕሪ ሰላሳ ዓመት ተረሲዑስ፡ እታ ኣደ ምስ ውላዳ ውዕል ክትገብር ንቡር እዩ ክበሃል ከሎ ኤርትራውያን እንታይ ክብሉ ይኽእሉ? እህም ጥራይ!

ብላዕሊ ላዕሊ ክረአ ከሎ ካብ መጐተ ኣቶ ታየ ቦጋለ ዝሓይሽ ዝመስል፡ ናይ ዶክተር ያዕቆብ ኃይለማርያም ሓሳብ እዩ። (ያዕቆብ ኃይለማርያም. (2003). አሰብ የማን ናት? (የኢትዮጵያ የባህር በር ጥያቄ). አዲስ አበባ.) ከምዚ ዝስዕብ ድማ ኢሉ፦

“ሻዕቢያ ዘይሕጋዊ ኣካይድኡ ብምቕጻል ብኣቈጻጽራ ፈረንጂ ኤፕሪል 23-25፡ 1993 ኣብ ውሽጢ ኤርትራ ነቲ ህዝቢ ካልእ ኣማራጺ ከይተዋህቦ ‘ናጻ ክትከውን ትደሊዶ ኣይትደልን’ ዝብል ሕቶ ጥራይ ቀሪቡሉ፡ እቲ ህዝቢ ብ99.8% ድምጺ (ኣካይዳ ናይ ኢትዮጵያ ሃገራዊ ምርጫ ይመስል) ንኽፍንጨል ፍቓዱ ኣርእዩ ተባህለ። (ገጽ 89)”

ተወሳኺ ሓበሬታ
ኣብ ቀዳማይ ክፋል ናይዚ ጽሑፍ’ዚ “ሓንቲ ካብተን ረፈረንደም ኤርትራ ዘአንገዳ ሃገራት ኢትዮጵያ ባዕላ እያ ነይራ። ኣብ ኢትዮጵያ ዝነበራ መውሃቢ ድምጺ ነቚጣታት 11 ክኾና ከለዋ፡ ኣብ አዲስ አበባ፡ ጎጃምን ሃረርን ሰሰለስተ፡ ኣብ ናዝሬት ድማ ክልተ ነቚጣታት ነበራ።” ኢልና ነይርና። ኣብ ዝተፈላለየ ከባቢታት ትግራይ እውን ተወሰኽቲ መድመጺ ነቚጣታት ከም ዝነበራ፡ ኣንበብቲን ብኣካል ዝተሳተፉዎን ዝሃቡዎ ሓበሬታ የረጋግጽ።

Training on sign language in Central Region

The National Association of Hearing Impaired branch in the Central Region has provided training on sign language for workers from various institutions in the region.

At the concluding event of the training on 28 April, Mr. Daniel Gebremariam, head of the association branch, said that the objective of the training was to enable the citizens with hearing impairment receive social services they need at social service provision institutions. He also called on the trainees to apply the knowledge they gained from the training in the support of the disabled citizens.

Noting on the significance of the training, the trainees expressed readiness to apply the knowledge they gained from the training at their work place in facilitating services for the hearing impaired citizens.

1993 Eritrean independence referendum 🇪🇷

On the basis of the reports and observations of UNOVER and international observers, on 27 April 1993, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative officially announced that “On the whole, the referendum process in Eritrea can be considered to have been free and fair at every stage, and that it has been conducted to my satisfaction”. Speaking that same day, with the provisional results being shared, Isaias Afwerki, then the Secretary-General of the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF) and the PGE, expressed that the referendum was “a delightful and sacrosanct historical conclusion to the choice of the Eritrean people,” and proudly announced that “Eritrea is a sovereign country as of today.”
