Today I've refreshed the SerenityOS/Ladybird maintainer group, retiring 4 people who were more-or-less inactive, and bringing on 4 new people.
I'm excited to see what happens with some new perspectives in the mix. Welcome Alex, Dani, Luke & Tim! 🤓🐞🚀
@davidecci Congrats! I'm already loving this perf arms race that's developing between ld64, lld, and mold.
ld-prime seems to be missing from the command-line tools for Xcode beta. When can we start playing with it?
@HobbyistRust @awesomekling It's actually in the Arch repos (https://t.co/pbCLbRAtUR), but that's very out-of-date. Building it from source is not hard though, I wouldn't bother with third-party build scripts.
@HaskRay@bruxisma A cool trick is to bundle multiple tools into a single binary and dispatch based on argv[0], like what llvm-driver does (https://t.co/yybAhlnemQ).
... except that it won't work on Windows because it needs symlinks 🤡
This commit concludes the work I did on @llvmorg's ld64.lld linker as part of Google Summer of Code. Many thanks to @thakis and @jezng for the mentorship and continued support, and to Chromium for accepting me as their GSoC student.
We have landed support for chained fixups in LLD. This new format reduces the size of binaries, and makes page-in linking possible: starting with macOS 13, relocations can be performed lazily the first time a page is accessed, making app startup faster.

Support for chained fixups was added in macOS 11 and iOS 13.4. Older OS versions are not able to run binaries that use them. Apple's ld64 linker enables them for macOS 12+; in LLD, they are gated behind the -fixup_chains flag at the moment.
I'm thrilled to have been accepted into #GSoC 🥳
I'll be working on improving the macOS @llvmorg LLD linker, which is used by all Chromium developers (and many others!). You can expect some speedup and better diagnostics among other things.
Looking forward to working w/ @thakis
The SerenityOS Browser now passes the Acid3 test! 🥳🐞🌍
AFAIK we're the first new open source browser to reach this milestone since the test originally came out.
This has been a team effort over the last couple of weeks, and I'm so proud of everyone who contributed! 🤓❤️
