Enjoying spending some time this summer organizing my materials and planning improvements for next year! What are you planning to implement next year in your classroom?
Encouraged by @bes_kgibson, I introduced Student Leaders. Ss were allowed to take control of the pacing of their learning with opportunities to request further help or do a self-guided research project on a standard related topic to further solidify the concept. #ECSDFL https://t.co/JH7NrcJR8n
@JeremyG724@bes_kgibson I was blessed to be raised by @museonlife - a brilliant woman who possesses a high capacity for language and who values a vast vocabulary!
A4: I send Ps a wkly newsletter that breaks down the standards we are covering. For particularly difficult concepts (like Math), I include step by step instructions for Ps so they can help, and include websites that can help their Ss take control of their learning. #ECSDFL https://t.co/SKEEWjJeK0
With today's standards, parents often feel helpless when trying to help their child at home. What is something you do to help empower parents with resources?

A2: My Admin team has repeatedly supported me, encouraged me, and offered me advice and input on my ideas. They have also championed my real world experiences and allowed me to openly share them on the classroom. #ECSDFL https://t.co/2Xhk7qvaDL
What is one thing your administration did well to support your role in the classroom & what is one way they could provide further support in the coming year?

A1: I plan to take a few moments with each student before the end of their to discuss their strengths and how they can address (and conquer) their weaknesses, with a focus on communication. #ECSDFL https://t.co/M85Hjy4aEi
Good evening everyone! Gary Smalley has a quote we really like, "Life is relationships, the rest is just details." With that in mind, what better way to get started than with everyone introducing themselves!

To teach the importance of communication, I encourage them to challenge me, politely if I make a mistake or they think I am wrong. I also ask them to address interpersonal problems themselves before asking for adult interference - on a case by case basis. #5thchat https://t.co/CoYcz0gl5l
@jvelNOLA I also encourage them to defend their answers and opinions with evidence that they are correct.
I offer unlikely students opportunities to prove themselves, as well. I have noticed that often, another teacherโs feedback or my own pre-conceived notions prevent this.
A2: Our @Beulah_ES 5th grade team works very hard to hold our students accountable to prepare them for the transition. Personally, I strive to introduce my students to life skills that prepare them for unfamiliar social situations. #5thchat https://t.co/QKVe1C6DwN
Q2: It seems most cite two major challenges for Ss transitioning into Middle School: 1) fear of the unknown & 2) handling multiple classes, multiple teachers, multiple sets of expectations. What specific steps does your school take to ease these issues? #5thchat
