She had a reputation among @trimet bus drivers. constant commands, putting out ramp, lowering bus, special stops. Most of them were unneeded. Lowering the bus when the bus was level with the curb, special stops at regular bus stops. Constant complaints.
Then, slowly, I realized she was someone with no one in her life, she had no control of her world, that we bus drivers were the only positive contact she had in a day. Her request were a desperate wish for control in a world that had turned its back on her. Seeing her reality changed how we viewed her, no doubt it changed our reactions to her.
