Israeli Olympic gymnast Diana Svertsov was on the Tel Aviv light rail moments before the terror shooting in Jaffa last night.

“I ran as if a hungry wolf was chasing me, without stopping. I didn't look back. The terrorists sat in the same car with me, one of them saw my chain of Olympic rings and smiled at me before he left.”

She recounted that the terrorists seemed “sweet” and normal in appearance, one of them even wearing a pin for the movement to return the Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

Then, one of them inserted the cartridge into the rifle he was carrying and started to shoot.

“Then we heard the announcement - everyone get off the train there is an attack in Jaffa. I looked at the person sitting next to me, we understood that to get off is to go to the attack itself. Meanwhile the terrorists outside shot the people who were in front of me. I saw everything happen. It took a while for the police to arrive, not much, but it took time. All this time I didn't stop shaking, I couldn't speak. The back doors on the train opened, but I saw another body where I was standing.”

Svertsov was rescued by a man throwing her behind some bushes, as she was unable to move.

She and the man who rescued her than ran from the scene: “On the way we saw another body. We couldn't stop around, everything was puddles of blood. All my sneakers were soaked in this blood. I had no choice, either to step on and keep running - or stay put and pray that they didn't shoot me."

Israelis should not have to hide in bushes and run for their lives on their commute home.

The world must condemn this attack for what it is: terror, with no other goal than murdering innocent civilians.
