So I let him know that 11/12 residents here are female and if he wants to have his son wait for the sole male resident’s waitlist that’s cool but there’s no such thing as “lady doctors” and that people in this province would kill to have doc offer to take them on.

Being me, I say “yes. It is female. Is there a problem?” And he has the audacity to say “well our son is super complicated with a bad heart condition and I just didn’t expect a lady doctor”.

Week ago I saw a patient who’s dad mid-encounter asked me “who are you again?” To which I replied “Dr. Power”. His wife said something in French resembling asking me to be their sons fam doc. He proceeded to mumble “hmm. Dr. Power. It is female”
