I had a great time sharing a story with third graders at Magruder this morning. If you haven’t read Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut, check it out and I know you’ll love it! #engageycsd#readaloud#readersareleaders
Ok, reading friends, I finished my first book for our #ycsdbookbingo 📖 Other Words for Home is written in verse and I could not get enough! Thanks @MamaGilbsLib for the recommendation! Reading team, be sure to tag me as you finish your books!!! #ycsd#leadycsd
Mike Schmoker: "Students should read and/or be read to for a minimum of 60 minutes daily, across the curriculum, at every grade level. And they should write for at least 40 minutes every day. In such amounts, reading and writing would have a game-changing impact on all learning."
Had the best time meeting teachers and students at Magruder this morning. Can you believe grades K and 1 were getting into literacy stations on day 5?! Amazing! #mescubs#ycsd#engageycsd
Spending the morning at DES working with these awesome first grade teachers! “Piecing together” the characteristics of our different learners. #ycsd#ycsdlead
Update: I’m halfway through The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise & it was one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read. This book has more descriptive language than most books for adults. Another reason why #kidlit is the best. #readersreading#mgbooktalk
