So grateful to get to cultivate this vision with @wearearrabon
.@JudgeCarter@JohnCornyn@SenTedCruz Tens of thousands of Afghan evacuees still face uncertainty about their immigration status. I urge you to pass the Afghan Adjustment Act and give Afghan evacuees a clear pathway to permanent residence!

.@JohnCornyn@SenTedCruz It is past time to permanently solidify the contributions of immigrants who are integral to our communities. I urge you to support meaningful, bipartisan immigration reforms and support Dreamers, TPS holders, and farm workers.

We should feel “at home” with people who share our faith but not our politics even more than we do with people who share our politics but not our faith. If this is not our experience, then we may be rendering to Caesar what belongs to God.
You cannot make people like you. You cannot make people believe you. You cannot change their minds if they want to think the worst of you. You cannot demand esteem. Put that wasted effort into following Jesus &, in his name, in his love & in his ways, do your fellow humans good.
The Church has an unconditional obligation to the victims of any ordering of society, even if they do not belong to the Christian community.
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
In a culture of moral outrage, antagonisms are enflamed because the end result is not shalom but personal catharsis & the act of setting others straight.
The practice of lament, however, positions us to be shaped by the One who sets all things straight.
All too often, the faithful thing God calls us into is also the hard thing. If this describes the day ahead of you, I pray that Jesus will hold you close and give you courage.
The evil of racism might begin in the heart, but the heart of its evil is found in social policies.
Treating the heart is an important, but incomplete tactic in dismantling it.
A change in the heart must lead to social change. But social change can’t wait for a change of heart.
Sabbath-keeping at its core is a profession of faith. In observing it, we confess:
• I am not what I do.
• The world will not stop if I cease from my work.
• Christ is holding all things together.
Good move
While a robust asylum process is vital, some who are fleeing poverty (not persecution) make a dangerous journey to the border for a long-shot request for asylum. Allowing more to request a work-based visa at the consulate to fill a job is better for them & for the US
This is a cruel thing to say, but all this angry zeal and passion, no matter how high the cause which fuels it, is not a sign that truth and the gospel are breaking through.
When truth and the gospel break through, the first mark is compassion not anger.
– Ron Rolheiser
If you want the facts on what's happening at the border, and how distinct groups of migrants (unaccompanied children, single adults, families) are being processed (or, in most cases, turned away), @SecMayorkas has posted a helpful explanation https://t.co/3NeSDYFYhP
Thanks to @POTUS, @SenatorMenendez & @RepLindaSanchez for proposing specific immigration reform plans. If Congress can't agree on an overall package they should at least build momentum by passing the bipartisan parts: status for Dreamers, TPS, family unity, ag & essential workers
