Being a leader is often challenging because you have a vision that no one else yet sees. Your job is to help them see it. So you must paint, over and over again, the picture of the vision. You must often find a balance between passion and patience.
It’s been a harrowing trip to Oz for many evangelicals this year, the curtain pulled back on the wizards of cause. We found a Bible all right, seemingly used instead of applied, leveraged instead of obeyed, cut and pasted piecemeal into a pledge of allegiance to serve the served.
Can we micromanage a trouble-free life for our kids? Probably not. But, we CAN raise them strong to handle troubles and lead a great life.

Our focus as educators should not be on helping students understand what they will DO for the rest of their lives, but who they will BE for the rest of their lives. The latter will inform the former and means we as educators can focus on the human and not on the ‘work’.
