Bresciani's family involvement in development is more problematic than "I'll recuse myself from a vote". The Mayor regularly meets with developers + negotiates with other orders of government re: growth, housing, infrastructure. Personal interests will always be a factor.

This isn't to suggest that the Mayor single-handedly makes these decisions. City Admin advises Council on growth, infrastructure, and they decide. But the Mayor is instrumental regarding advocacy with other orders of government and needs to bring an unbiased perspective.

And you can't just outsource that part of the job to another Councilor. Conflicts between her family's companies and other developers are known. Where we grow as a city is a huge topic right now. Having a mayor with personal conflicts of interest is very problematic.
