Dang that is robbery!! I took my daughter to an urgent care a couple days ago for a sinus infection. $185 for the visit, went to Walmart across the street for the px, a little over $200 for medical care. I used to be in a membership program with a great doctor, but we just never used it. I don’t know your situation but definitely look into a membership program if needed so you can save that $$$.

Nope. I take my chances. I am suggesting possible solutions, and my experience of being without “insurance “ for years now. We’re all better off taking what we would be paying for so called insurance and putting it into an HSA for emergencies. The problem is that most Americans can’t afford the insane prices of insurance, and then still have high copays. Even an employee provided healthcare was crazy high for horrible “care”. Unfortunately many of us remember what healthcare used to be like decades ago before government got involved. It wasn’t perfect, but it was FAR better than the debacle we have now.

A catastrophic only type of insurance. Would be kinda like carrying liability only on a car. It’s the lowest possible option. At this point, personally I would have to pay out of pocket. Direct pay is cheaper. There’s massive markup when using insurance companies. I’ve even caught a medical company charge me double for an x ray because with insurance, nobody questions it, however I called them out on it.

I’m am trained in addiction recovery and this is the absolute best plan I’ve ever heard. The lie that we’ve been told “you can’t help people who don’t want help” is apathetic bs! I help people all the time who don’t want it. If they can get out of the addicted mindset, they can come back. Get them clean, teach them a skill, show them a purpose and cut the supply.
