Some won't believe it, but journalists really do care about the communities we cover. Friend and @kron4news anchor @kenwayne has a cool way of giving back as this @NorthBayNews story by @bexwolff attests.

It’s been fun watching you rise up to the challenges + deliver important hyper local coverage to your readers. Keep at it! And thanks for being on our team.

Life as a local reporter can be incredibly exciting, heartwarming and full of curveballs. May was full of reminders of why it rocks.

Last month I got the opportunity to write several stories that I'm super proud of and had a blast working on. I thought I'd share a few of them with the twitterverse :)

[Rebecca Wolff @bexwolff]

For this story, I got to talk to Alice Walker, activist, poet and Pulitzer-prize-winning novelist. And yes, she's excited about the new film-adaptation of her book "The Color Purple" staring Halle Bailey, coming to theaters near you this Christmas.

It takes courage not to follow the pack. So proud of our paper's response. Many thanks to @TransJA, @BylineGraph and many others for their wise counsel.

Great A1 story on the @NorthBayNews yesterday on one woman's glass-shattering history in the Dipsea Trail race from @sonomanews reporter Rebecca Wolff https://t.co/7aJVFc237y

[Rebecca Wolff @bexwolff]

Has a lot of fun writing this one and chatting with Mary, who estimates that she's run about 168,000 miles over the past 56 years. She's completed the iconic Dipsea Race dozens of times, but it's been 50 years since she won it as a 10-year-old.

[Sonoma Index-Tribune @sonomanews]

The first time she ran the race, she had to do so undercover by posing as a boy. https://t.co/kx5GgZCo3j

[Chase Hunter @Chase_HunterB]

The Index-Tribune takes third in best page layout! Shout out to the women behind the headlines, our designer Yovanna Bieberich and our editor/publisher Emily Charrier, who've dealth with wildly shifting deadlines last year after the closure of Sonoma Media's printing facility.

[Rebecca Wolff @bexwolff]

So happy to have played a role in this coverage!

I got a message Thursday afternoon just before I had to go to a reporting assignment. So I called @bexwolff to help bring the story home. Read the latest on Ken Mattson and the Springs Plaza: https://t.co/ELTkEQXSbc
