this is very cool, zcash potentially getting 3x faster
and you can use your encrypted money to vote privately on the proposal!
skin in the game governance, privacy, and performance all at display

Back when I first heard about Bitcoin, all I knew was that whatever this thing was, the price kept going up. I think that’s where a lot of people are with Zcash right now. After a decade, it’s only just tapping into the mainstream
BREAKING: @ValarGroup and @TachyonZcash have called a coinholder vote on NU7 scope.
Voting runs Aug 25 – Sep 12. Eligibility is a snapshot of spendable shielded funds in Ironwood on Aug 24, 19:00 UTC. 1,000,000 ZEC must participate for the result to count.
🔥 $ZEC remains one of the strongest large-cap coins in the market today.
The July 28, 2026 Ironwood (NU6.3) upgrade to @Zcash sealed the older Orchard pool (after a critical soundness bug was found earlier in 2026) and introduced a new formally verified pool with a turnstile for supply verification, quantum-recoverable notes, and stronger guarantees against undetectable inflation.
Privacy is moving from a defensive niche to a core infrastructure requirement, which is why I don't think the privacy narrative is fading anytime soon. The privacy meta is now private by default, auditable when needed. So not every privacy project will attract capital, but $ZEC is an exception, as it implemented real zk-SNARKs very early on. $ZEC remains a solid top choice for every investor.
The NU7 vote is happening!
Same questions as before, different dates
Its the most accessible vote in Zcash history. Its available in at least one wallet, theres no registration period, supports Keystones etc.
Just hold ZEC in Ironwood on August 24th and your good to go
This’ll be the weirdest post you’ll see come out of my account - I’m buying Zcash
Privacy matters in the age of AI
It’s a set and forget crypto. I can see this pegging to Bitcoin anywhere 1-5% of market cap over the long run. Recommend everyone to read @robustus Zcash thoughts going all the way back to 2016.
Nobody got ZEC for pennies, it's one of the fairest distributions in all of crypto.
If you bought on the open market, you always had to pay double digits.
Due to the slow start mining was never cheap, either.
And Founders and early employees had to do "proof-of-work" as well.
Conjecture Institute Fellow @arjunkhemani: What Is Zcash?
@zooko: Zcash is a cryptocurrency that's like Bitcoin, except that the transactions are end-to-end encrypted so that only the sender and the receiver can see the contents of the transactions, like the addresses of the sender and receiver and the amount of money transmitted.
All of that's end-to-end encrypted so that everyone else in the world sees nothing but cyphertext, which could not be broken even by a star-sized quantum computer.
Only the only the people who need to know can see the contents of the transactions.
With NU7, DeFi is coming on ZEC.
Private lending.
Private trading.
Cross-chain swaps that stay shielded on the ZEC side.
Ztarknet is building this on Zcash right now.
If Zcash breaks and sustains 1%, 2%, or 5% of Bitcoin's value the market may accelerate quickly.
The media is already adopting the narrative of Zcash as the next Bitcoin.
Bitcoin's recent poor price performance, treasury company blow ups, governance challenges, and bad behavior by key actors feed negative sentiment.
A deeper look shows that the Zcash engineering is cleaner and that the network has already built a substantial moat in privacy and quantum resistance.
What Bitcoin has going for it is hashrate, maturity, and liquidity.
But overall Bitcoin is still a very small asset -- worth less than many tech companies -- and not yet an irreplaceable part of the global financial system.
Bitcoin is not too big to fail, but I do think it keeps the number one crypto spot for a while.
The brand is as well known as Coca Cola or the USD. If people want "a crypto" it's still the default choice.
While I think Zcash will likely make substantial gains this year, I think its relative immaturity and lack of awareness means it will be volatile as it tops (just like early Bitcoin cycles).
zcash:native consolidating after consecutive higher lows for 1yr straight
It's not a hot Ai trade, or a bottleneck, or talked about on podcasts, or getting retail excited...
But it is one of the only ways to get exposure to belief that financial privacy is a fundamental right
