The Artemis II crew took the left photo on their way to the Moon. It shows Earth at night, lit only by moonlight, using long exposure camera settings. The photo from Apollo 17 shows Earth’s surface during the day, lit by sunlight.

As the Apollo 16 crew began their flight to the Moon on April 16, 1972, they captured this view of North America from their spacecraft. Beginning NASA's fifth lunar landing mission were astronauts John Young, commander; Ken Mattingly, command module pilot; and Charlie Duke, lunar module pilot.

Working on a prototype of this Wing-In-Ground-Effect seaplane drone to map coastal+shelf areas of the seafloor. Called the "Sea Hare," it will "hop" from point to point at 8x the speed of a typical surface survey vessel, map, and move on to the next point. We'll see if it works.

Artemis II astronauts are more than halfway to their destination, and preparations for lunar flyby are underway. During their trip around the far side of the Moon, they will capture imagery to share with scientists (and you, too!).
