@rebeccacb03 I totally agree with this, I remember seeing a viral video of a country singer who was booed and people became disappointed as his singing was completely different in person compared to his recorded tracks. I believe live performances truly showcase talented artists. #W23POPMUS
@madison_feltham I can definitely see this side of the argument. Personally, I like when attending concerts and listening to live music as it is raw, it allows the talent of the performer to shine rather than a technologically enhanced version of them. #W23POPMUS
I believe that for the most part, this statement is false. find myself looking at concerts that I would love to visit however, these are just so expensive it is hard to justify spending the money on such an experience. People listen to recordings as it is a substitute #W23POPMUS
@gosse_nicholas I totally agree with this point, even in today's music industry artists use past music to help with inspiration and even sample the music. However, it is just wrong when credit is not given to the original artists and they are not compensated for their work. #W23POPMUS
@arowsellMUS2011 I totally agree with you! It's okay to gather inspiration from other artists and maybe even sample their music as long as they know and are also benefitting from it. #W23POPMUS
The white middle class has exploited African Americans throughout history and this is no different with music. They often stole a cultural style of music from these people and profited from it which is also known as "schlock" #W23POPMUS
@ceparsons01 I think it's insane that Apple can charge $800 for a pair of wireless headphones, however, I guess considering they are seen as a status symbol it allows them to do so.
@ryleemusic2011 This is so true! I personally never seen the hype behind AirPods and stuck with my wired headphones for a while. I never thought of the status symbol behind them before, great job noticing that!
#W23POPMUS A recent music invention would be streaming platforms such as Spotify. Spotify has opened my world to numerous new genres that I don't think I would ever have discovered otherwise. It enables me to listen to any music I desire anytime I want.
@gosse_nicholas Hey Nicholas, I totally agree with that! I find the pop music industry is very shallow with little to no meaning in their songs besides bragging about having luxurious items. Great work!
@a_hussey66 Hey Aaron, I totally agree with this! I find most songs are very similar today because that becomes the main premise of the songs that do well which reinforces their false needs of having luxury goods and flexing them. Great work!
I believe that popular music has created "false needs" in society as a lot of popular music has incorporated a materialistic theme. By doing this I think popular music is dumbed down form of music as it is shallow and has little hidden meaning. #W23POPMUS
