Just ~30 km from our Parliament, Gurugram—one of India’s leading corporate and tax-generating cities—is struggling with basic civic infrastructure.

Yesterday, during heavy rain and complete traffic paralysis, my daughter, a Class 6 student, had to walk nearly 3 km and reached home at 6:30 PM after 4.30 hrs of struggle . Thousands of families face similar situations. This is not an isolated incident; Gurugram witnesses flooding, waterlogging, broken roads and traffic collapse almost every monsoon.

A city where homes sell for Rs 100 crore+, hosting global corporations and contributing substantially to the economy, cannot have infrastructure that repeatedly collapses after heavy rainfall.

This reflects a serious governance and accountability gap at the administrative and middle-management levels. Citizens should not have to suffer because responsibility is fragmented between multiple agencies.

My humble request:

Pause approvals for major new developments in overstressed zones until supporting infrastructure catches up. Develop new satellite cities to reduce pressure on Gurugram. Fix drainage, roads and mobility through a single accountable authority with measurable timelines.

If the present governance structure cannot deliver, the Centre should even examine whether Gurugram requires a fundamentally different administrative model—greater central oversight, UT-style governance, or stronger integration with the NCR administration.

This may appear to be a local civic issue, but only government can solve infrastructure at this scale.

Gurugram does not need another promise. It needs ownership, accountability and execution.

1. Why there is a delay in transferring/Crediting PF money to the employees when the #hdfcltdmerger was announced on 4.4 2022?
