On May 23, both Raja and Sonam went missing, prompting a massive search operation. On June 2, Raja’s body was discovered in a gorge, brutally hacked to death with an axe.

However, Sonam was nowhere to be found. Various theories emerged; some speculated that she too had been killed and her body dumped. Others feared she might have been raped, possibly by local tribes, or even trafficked to Bangladesh.

The truth was far more chilling and revealed a cold-blooded betrayal. Sonam was eventually found alive and arrested in Ghazipur, UP, along with the men who murdered her husband. Shockingly, the entire honeymoon trip was her idea, not Raja’s. She lured him to a remote area where three accomplices she had hired, who had followed them from Madhya Pradesh, lay in wait. Together, they ambushed the couple and butchered Raja.

To mislead investigators, they staged the crime scene to suggest that Sonam had also been abducted or killed. While the police have yet to officially confirm a motive, early speculation points to a love affair. Sonam was reportedly in a relationship and had been married off against her will, leading her to hatch a horrifying plan to eliminate her innocent husband.

Caste is a socio-cultural identity, not altered by economic status. Creamy layer in SC/ST categories undermines the essence of affirmative action aimed at social justice. Reservations are already insufficient relative to the SC/ST population, giving rise to significantly underrepresentation.

The bench's Brahminical perspective fails to address the systemic oppression faced by SC/ST population, instead perpetuating further exclusion. The focus should be on expanding quotas to reflect demographic realities, not creating new divisions. #SaveReservation
