@PippaCrerar Remember at the TUC Conference 10/9/24, Starmer received a standing ovation after his speech. Unite's Sharon Graham responded "it's clear Britain is better under a Labour gov. ...." - all happened on the very day Labour MPs voted to cut winter fuel allowance!
GP reception 11:30am. Old man struggling to walk at the desk. Can he make an appointment? No. Do it online. Only online now. He is not online. Ring at 8am tomorrow, we will fill it in for you. He leaves very sad. This is 21stC Britain. If the net & phones are down, then what?
@RachelReevesMP You know the research Labour did in 2017 into the impact of cutting WFA which found that such cuts could result in 4,000 deaths from cold related illness - I was wondering if you've done an analysis on the detrimental impact on the elderly during the winter you imposed your cuts?
Where to even begin with these Labour briefings!
1) Louise Haigh is not working class.
I get that she has a Northern accent, but she is the privately educated daughter of a solicitor.
2) Blocking Ed Miliband from becoming Chancellor because of net zero during rolling heatwaves is a sign of abject political bankruptcy.
3) All of this indicates that Andy Burnham doesn't have any clear sense of what he wants to do with power.
We've seen that film before, and we know how it ends.
4) The fact that there is all this chaotic briefing and counter-briefing already is a very bad sign indeed.
It's itself a sign of a lack of central direction.
5) Shabana Mahmood as Chancellor just means the Treasury running economic policy, and the government sticking to the same agenda as before.
@owenjonesjourno Louise Haigh "broadly on the Labour Left"!! - She voted to cut winter fuel allowance, voted to keep 350,000 in poverty, voted for welfare cuts and couldn't even bring herself to vote for a ceasefire in Gaza. (An insult to those genuinely on the left?)
@KHALID4EWH@andyburnham So will he now agree to Jeremy Corbyn's Bill, that was previously blocked, for an independent inquiry into Britain's complicity?
@Andyhow44953361 Can you find the passage in the EHRC report where it said that Labour was 'institutionally antisemitic', please? I ask, because I've never been able to find it in that report.
“I have always maintained that those who term the Miners' Strike a defeat, are totally stupid. They don't understand the nature of politics. It's like suggesting that because Jesus Christ was crucified, he failed. The struggle itself was a victory. We took on Thatcher and we electrified the entire Trade Union Movement. If we had been supported by some of our own, we would have crushed that government, but as it was, we came close and proved how powerful the working class can be.”
Arthur Scargill January, 2005
Corbyn has made a statement about Starmer's lie at #PMQs: "The prime minister today falsely claimed that Labour was found to be “institutionally antisemitic” under my leadership. There was no such finding, and Keir Starmer should have the decency to correct the record."
With Keir Starmer, you can always find a video from the past of him saying exactly the opposite to what he claims to believe now.
Today, he dishonestly claimed the Labour Party was “found to be institutionally antisemitic,” but lo and behold, here he is in 2020 saying it wasn’t.
Even at his final PMQs, Keir Starmer was dishonest.
He claimed the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn was found to be “institutionally antisemitic” — when it wasn’t.
Also, the 2019 general election would’ve been a hung parliament if we had PR, so be honest about that as well.
For nearly 40 years, successive governments have promised a fairer immigration system and delivered laws which make people’s lives harsher and more difficult.
This government's Immigration & Asylum Bill is no different.
@RichardBurgon@IanByrneMP He has shown time and time again that he is a man of humanitarian principles and is willing to fight for what is right regardless of the consequences to himself. Even in that one speech alone he showed he is one of the few who is fit to be PM.
@SaulStaniforth Let's hope @Kevin_Maguire you lose your 20p and that Yvette Cooper gets nowhere near the post of chancellor - she's been horrific as HS and FS.
Please join us on August 4th at 7PM for the launch of The Gaza Tribunal.
The genocide in Gaza could have been prevented, but our political leaders chose to participate instead.
We will never give up until there is justice for the Palestinian people.

@IanByrneMP Every word spoken from the heart by a man who truly understands the depth of hurt felt by families and who ensured justice was never going to be "optional". A man who never accepted "take it or leave it". The families, including your own Ian, will be proud of you. Huge respect.
