Nurses going on a strike in NY?! Yea it’s been time. The abuse is insane but even more insane is how the State of New York refuses to intervene and implement safe staffing ratios even though everyone is aware that this refusal is impacting patient’s safety and care negatively
BREAKING: Thousands of nurses walked out this morning from two of NYC’s largest hospitals in strike, continuing picketing throughout the day until agreements are reached.

Approximately 16,000 union nurses have delivered notices to 8 NYC hospitals announcing their intention to strike beginning January 9 if a new contract agreement is not reached by then, according to a press release from the New York State Nurses Association https://t.co/n1ZXnZ9D3Q
One hospital source says they always anticipated the nurses would issue the 10-day notices “to maximize leverage.” Nurses say they are overworked and hospitals understaffed. They want raises and none of the proposed cuts to their own health care benefits.
Breaking: Nurses at 8 hospitals including NewYork-Presbyterian, Montefiore, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside and West, Maimonides, BronxCare, Richmond University Medical Center and Flushing Hospital Medical Center delivered 10-day notices to strike today.
The 10-day notices give hospitals time to plan care for patients while nurses are on strike. But the best way for management to protect patients is to listen to nurses and settle fair contracts that protect patient care in the next 10 days.
