Elected officials also emphasized the need to enforce the safe staffing law. This is a great reminder of why nurses need to get out and vote for healthcare champions who will put the needs of patients, nurses and working people ahead of healthcare corporation profits!
NYSNA Director at Large Christina Evans, RN, spoke at a rally Wednesday supporting legislation to increase accountability in healthcare mergers, emphasizing, "For the Hudson Valley to thrive, we need more quality, affordable healthcare for all, not profit-driven consolidation."

TEAMSTERS RALLY FOR DELIVERY PROTECTION ACT AT NEW YORK CITY HALL
Today, Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien joined hundreds of rank-and-file Amazon Teamsters and New York City elected officials, including Mayor Zohran Mamdani, for a rally at City Hall urging Council Speaker Julie Menin to schedule an immediate vote on the Delivery Protection Act.
The Delivery Protection Act, authored by Councilmember Tiffany Cabán (D-22nd District), would require delivery companies like Amazon to register their facilities with the city and ban subcontracting for last-mile delivery drivers in the five boroughs. Amazon uses a corrupt subcontracting model in which third-party “Delivery Service Partners” shield the company from legal liability while making billions in profit. The bill is supported by a majority of the City Council and Mayor Mamdani.
“Amazon is America’s most corrupt white-collar crime syndicate, wasting millions to rob warehouse workers of the right to collectively bargain while designing a nationwide subcontracting scheme to deny employment rights to its entire fleet of delivery drivers,” O’Brien said. “New York City is a vital artery of Amazon’s global logistics operations, and it must be the first city to pass the Delivery Protection Act. Amazon’s unchecked exploitation of drivers and parcel delivery workers has got to end. The Teamsters are honored to lead the fight to fix a broken system stacked against working people, and we thank Mayor Mamdani, Councilmember Cabán, and the supermajority of the City Council for standing with workers at this critical moment.”
