Atletico selling Julian Alvarez to Barcelona is entirely their choice.
Sell him. Don't sell him. Ask for €200m if you want. He's your player and you're perfectly entitled to do what you think is best for your club.
But please, spare me the holier-than-thou act about "ethics", "professionalism" and Barcelona negotiating in bad faith.
Where was all this concern for good faith when Atletico had an agreement with Barca that would require them to pay €40m for Griezmann if he played 45+ minutes in 50% of the games he was available for?
Their solution?
Keep one of their best players on the bench and repeatedly bring him on around the 60th minute so those games wouldn't count towards the clause.
Everyone knew what was happening. Griezmann knew. Simeone knew. Barca knew. The entire football world knew.
And eventually Barca, who desperately needed the money at the time, settled for roughly half the original €40m fee.
Was it within Atletico's contractual rights? Sure.
Was it this wonderful display of "good faith" and sporting ethics that they suddenly seem so passionate about in 2026?
Come on.
Football clubs look after their own interests. Atletico did it then. Barcelona are doing it now. That's the game.
So keep Julian. Sell Julian. Send him to Arsenal. Do whatever you want.
Just drop the saint act while doing it.
You cannot spend years playing the transfer market with every trick available to you and then suddenly discover the moral high ground when the sword falls on the other foot.

❗️Atletico is backing Julian Alvarez, whom they will help when he feels better, even though it's not understood that one should 'play' with such delicate issues as mental health and anxiety or depression episodes. 🇦🇷
In any case, they’re putting their medical services at the player's disposal so that he can join the team's dynamic with guarantees of being well.

🚨💥 Joan Laporta: “We're getting the information that Atlético Madrid wants to sell the player, our offer remains valid until the end of the market” #Transfers 💰
❗️Last night, there was a very important meeting between Julián Álvarez’s representatives, Simeone, and Atlético Madrid’s directors and it was decided that Julián Álvarez is now for sale.
Atletico officially says that Julián did not train due to “feeling unwell,” which says very little, but at the same time says a lot.

Flick clearly asked for a number 9 inthe post match press conference of the league opener. Although there are some solution within the squad, If not a Lewa replacement the board should atleast give him a Ferran Torres replacement.
🚨 JUST IN: Hansi Flick told Jules Kounde that Eric García is the starting right-back, and that Jules would return to the center-back position but as a backup. The club is open to selling him if an offer arrives. @CatalunyaRadio#Transfers 🇫🇷
How is the Ceballos - Betis thing still an active, open thread
Just fucking go there brother. Take a pay cut.
Or Betis just get him. Empty your coffers and get him.
Either way, end the most boring and longest transfer saga in the history of La Liga football.
Do it for us.
