But why must we wait for football to remind us that we are all family?

Why do we only experience peace during 90-minute games while our daily realities are plagued by division, distrust, and despair?

Why should the flag only be raised in celebration of a goal, and not in solidarity for our shared future?

Mr. President, we are bleeding beneath our outward smiles. We are a nation struggling for breath under the burden of corruption, ethnic suspicion, poverty, and violence. Children sleep hungry in a land rich with oil. Aspirations perish daily amid the queues of hopelessness. Hope is dwindling in the hearts of our youth, and many have lost faith in the promise of Nigeria.

Yet, football has illuminated the path.

It has revealed that we can show love for one another. That we can celebrate one another. That we can see beyond names, languages, and religions, and simply embrace being Nigerian.

We earnestly urge you, sir, do not allow this moment to fade like dusk overtaken by night. Seize this rare unity. Understand it. Expand it. Institutionalize it.

Let the spirit that inspired us during the Cup flow through our educational system, our policies, and our leadership. Let that enthusiasm drive national initiatives that foster understanding, justice, and fairness. Allow our youth to envision themselves in the government they elect. Let them feel heard. Let every region feel acknowledged, not just in football, but in governance, development, and justice.

Construct bridges, Mr. President. Not routes that lead to the privileged, but bridges that connect the broken to the hopeful. Build them in our hearts, within our communities, and throughout our classrooms. Establish national projects that unite tribes, creating platforms where differences are embraced, not vilified.
