Claude Cowork + skill + Notion + local files works like a charm

was drowning in receipts and expense tracking. every month = nightmare of categorizing transactions, hunting down missing receipts, reconciling credit cards

kept thinking there had to be a better way while manually entering line items at 2am before tax deadlines

finally tried training a model on my own expense patterns. used Claude for the logic, dumped 6 months of data into local files, set up categories in Notion

hooked it all up to my bank feeds using the structure my tax lawyer recommended. built in their compliance checklist so everything stays audit-ready

now it auto-categorizes 95% of expenses right. what used to eat up a whole weekend now takes a few minutes

the best automation is the kind where you forget the problem was ever there

The biggest mistake solo founders make when choosing tools is picking wrong.

Don't:
- Use whatever's popular
- Pick tools with the most features
- Choose based on hype

Do:
- Build a stack around your workflow
- Use less than you think you need
- Pick tools that ship your product faster
