@calebjsaenz Every loss is a big deal. The Game 1 loss was equally a big deal to the Game 2 loss. Anyway, look back to those 2012 Thunder. What if the Spurs were like those 2012 Thunder in the other way? The Spurs had won 20 straight before OKC reeled off 4 in a row. That would be great.
@ZachNBA_ Yeah, the OKC fans are babies for crying about injuries. But OKC didn’t win a title due to Haliburton’s injury. OKC would likely have won even if Haliburton didn’t get injured.
@calebjsaenz@EricSloss1383 What the F are you talking about? 5 of 31 teams have come back from 2-0 deficits to win a 7-game series. Irrelevant that it is 0-2 in the NBA Finals. A sample size of 31 is way more meaningful than a sample size of 2. This series is not over until one team gets to 4 wins.
Nobody said health doesn’t matter. But the Thunder were smacked by the Spurs when the Thunder were healthy, too. Just look at the regular season AND the Playoffs. The Knicks have won two coin flip games in this series. And 4 of the 5 games played this year between the Spurs and Knicks have been complete coin flips. They match-up fairly evenly. Let’s see which team wins on Monday.
@DonMegaBets@Hoops_GE I am pretty confident the players were instructed before the play that they were going to not call time-out. And Mitch was also signaling to push the ball. The error wasn’t on Mitch. It was Vic’s gaffe to pass the ball to Steph without eye contact from Steph.
I don’t think it’s close to #3. I agree with your top 2. But I would put the 107-105 loss in Game 7 in 1979 to the Bullets up there. And also the 108-105 loss to the Blazers in Game 7 in 1990 when Rod Strickland threw away a no-look, over the head pass. And, yes, the 0.4 shot by Fisher.
@DonMegaBets@AGGIES_HC_Belt Your Thunder were healthy in Game 1 of the WCF and the Spurs were without De’Aaron Fox. And your Thunder got smacked. Quit crying like a baby.
@SamQuinnCBS Those Houston Rockets pinstripe uniforms were a mess. Some of the worst uniforms ever. These new ones aren’t great. But they are as good as Houston’s uniforms have ever been because they’ve generally sucked.
This is just the way this Spurs team is. They came out and said they thought they were better than Oklahoma City, too. I don’t think it is “dismissive.” They are just matter-of-fact about their feelings. The old Spurs (Duncan, Manu, Tony) NEVER would have said such stuff. If, for no other reason to not give an opponent bulletin board material. But these guys have extreme confidence, and do have a swagger on the court as well. And they don’t follow the old adage “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” Nope, they’ll tell you exactly how they feel. And then they back it up on the court.
@Mlewis8111@Eddielinks_ But there was an episode in 1991 where Larry King was a guest on The Simpsons, and Larry King predicted the San Antonio Spurs would win the Championship in the 1991-92 season. You can listen to that bit of The Simpsons here: https://t.co/vZlPwFn6Ip
At the very least, the Spurs were the equal of OKC when Ajay/Jalen were in street clothes. The series may (or may not) have gone differently had they played the last few games. But the Spurs had injuries to De’Aaron and Dylan early on. It was a great series between two great teams.
