The Toronto Maple Leafs are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Barry Melrose.
A hard-nosed defenceman from Kelvington, Saskatchewan, Barry played in 173 of his 300 NHL games with the Maple Leafs and amassed 420 penalty minutes in that time with the club. Following his playing career, he built a decorated career as a coach across the WHL, AHL and NHL, before spending 27 years in broadcasting where he informed and entertained hockey fans all over the world.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Cindy, their sons, Tyrell and Adrien, and all of Barry's teammates, colleagues and fans.
"Trying to build a team that can win the cup for the next 10 years"
@CarloColaiacovo explained that with the #1 overall pick, #LeafsForever should focus on building a team that can compete in the long-term rather than trying to build one that can compete next season.
Darryl Sittler found his late wife Wendy's tickets to his 10-point game.
Tonight, under the banner of his retired #27, the Leafs will honour 50 years since his 10 point game.

It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.

Sinatra said it best
And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way!!
