Ascending? No. The Mediator stands before the Father right now, continually offering His crucified flesh and blood for the life of the world. When we say Mass, this sacrifice comes down in the body and blood of Christ given AND offered for us and to us.

It only shows that pagans offer sacrifices to demons. I understand that you can read this as implied by 1 Cor 10, but it is not stated.

Your example prayer is not one that sacrifices in and of itself but rather directs attention to the cross. In the Mass, Christ condescends to be consumed as He promised.

We Lutherans disagree with the directional force. The Father was appeased at the cross. The Eucharist is pro nobis, not pro patri.

But the sacrament is not a propitiatory (re-)sacrifice being offered by the priest. It is the once for all sacrifice of Christ's crucified flesh and blood offered by Christ to his people.
