Not all reductions in speed limits are the same
When you’re in a 35 MPH zone and it turns into a 15 MPH school zone, there needs to be a more concerted effort to get down to the speed limit
At this point I’m not having FSD v14.3.9 do that; you simply cannot go 35 MPH in a school zone
I really wish Apple had shown up with something different. And I don't mean product.
John Ternus didn't take the opportunity to introduce himself to the world.
John may be a very different CEO than Tim, but today he didn't show that. He stayed in the lane Tim built. And it left us wondering...
I urge John to bring back live events. I urge a less-scripted, less-curated Apple.
I'm tired of the fashion consultants dressing up the presenters. Some ripped jeans, a T-shirt and a pair of Vans would be refreshing.
Apple feels like a Better Homes & Gardens house where everything is just too perfectly in place.
We need some mess.
We need a presentation to fail. An unexpected moment. Maybe even something funny. Something that reminds us there are humans inside this company.
It all feels wrapped up in a COVID-style mask in an era where we are so over that.
@johnternus, breath freely again.
“I am invested in both Netflix and Blockbuster. I think Blockbuster is underestimating the power of streaming. But I think Netflix is underestimating the power of 9,100 stores globally…”
IMO, something smells funny about the pitch Uber is selling investors. On one hand, they are trying to convince investors they will win autonomy. On the other hand, they are lobbying against it. If you’re going to win autonomy, then why are you lobbying against it? It feels like they don’t even believe the investment thesis they are selling to investors.
They claim they will be the broker of autonomous vehicles just like they are with human drivers. But look at their first major partnership with Waymo. Waymo and Uber hate each other now. Your biggest partnership with the #1 autonomy provider has been a disaster they’re dying to get out of, but you’re going to have successful long term partnerships with the others? Okay.
The other thing Uber investors miss is that the entire network is a house of cards that can be knocked over by nothing more than a strong wind. The network requires riders to request, and drivers to sign on to work on the network.
Well, riders are choosing to go to the Waymo and Robotaxi apps directly. Drivers are already loosing earnings to autonomous vehicles in markets like LA and San Francisco. When I sign on to the Uber driver network, it’s silence. The app that used to buzz with new requests every few seconds is now popping up a request every 10 - 15 minutes — and if you don’t tap accept quickly they give it to someone else. Earnings have fallen to almost nothing.
Why would the drivers the network depends on stay as earnings continue to dwindle? This is just the start of the autonomous rollout. It will only get worse from here. And if Uber starts giving rides primarily to autonomous cars over human drivers… well, I don’t think the human drivers will be very happy about that. They’ll be gone fast. And without human drivers and users, Uber is just an autonomous ride hailing app that doesn’t actually have any self-driving technology.
It feels like Uber investors are still in denial about what’s happening. They have a business today because autonomy isn’t available most places. But when both are available, I pick autonomous every time. I have a feeling almost all other former Uber users will do the same.
@wholemars They just better charge a meaningful deposit like $5-10k or limit pre orders to existing Tesla owners. Don’t want see the brag that they have 10,000,000 pre orders that only paid $100 each.
Elon is single handedly putting American manufacturing and technological progress on his back
I don't care at all about your politics, if you can't support him for what he's doing for America for DECADES to come with projects NO ONE else is ambitious enough to take on...
Respectfully, you're an idiot 🇺🇸
Dear @SenateGOP Senate Republicans:
It really pisses off your constituents when you gavel in Pro Forma sessions to block Pres Trump from recess appointments.
Respectfully - STOP DOING IT!!
I’d love to keep the filibuster if senators invoking it were actually required to speak
It makes no sense to keep it when we don’t enforce the obligation to speak
Dems then use it to engage in unprecedented obstruction, shutting down DHS for months
Make them speak
Or nuke it
Thune is another swamp rat that has never held a real job and has been a career politician right out of college. He has never done anything remotely productive and deserves to be primaried and run out of office. He is a wholly unimpressive person with no real life skills that has basically stolen from taxpayers his whole life.
.@LeaderJohnThune, I hereby object to any effort to put the Senate into recess in August—at least until such time as the Senate has passed the SAVE America Act—and hereby request a roll call vote.
Do not assume you have my consent.
You do not.
I am intellectually incapable of addressing why a man who builds actual rockets dismissed my entire worldview as 'absurd,' so I will pretend this humiliation was a 'discussion' and promote it as content. I am terrified that people watched him tell me more people hate me than I realize, so I am using the phrase 'key takeaways' to sound authoritative. There are no key takeaways. I was dismantled on camera. I hope you don't notice that the public enjoyed watching me suffer. Please watch the full segment so my employer at the Italian industrialist-owned magazine doesn't notice that I have never built anything except my own delusion of importance. I am a small woman in a borrowed worldview and Elon Musk exposed it.
Meet the senior staff running Mitch McConnell's DC office. You pay their salaries. You're entitled to know what they're keeping from us.
Let them know how you feel.
The median age of first-time homebuyers in America:
- 1991: 27
- 2010: 30
- 2020: 33
- 2022: 36
- 2024: 38
- 2025: 40
Americans are delaying everything:
getting married
having kids
buying a home
A handful of smart policies could reverse this trend:
1. No federal income taxes until age 30.
2. Tax incentives for builders to construct affordable 3-bed/2-bath starter homes.
3. Stop printing money to bailout poorly ran companies. Let failing companies fail.
4. Celebrate young families. Turn people who get married and have kids into cultural heroes. Replace “Pride Month” with Young Family Pride Month. Heterosexual couples who procreate should be honored. This shouldn’t be controversial.
5. Teach real personal finance, investing, and taxes starting in junior high. Our schools are failing at this.
America needs to get its priorities straight.
The future success of 🇺🇸 depends on how well we build an economy that works for the next generation.
We’ve got work to do
I publicly and privately urged the last administration to address the public’s concerns with the former president’s health. I’m calling on Sen. McConnell to do the same and provide voters an update on his own health. Let’s end the crazy speculation. Just tell us what’s going on.
Thomas Sowell: "It is a lie that problems in the black community are attributed to the legacy of slavery.
Black married couples were more prevalent in the 20's than today. Black unemployment rate was lower in the 1930's than today.
The decline began in the 1960's with the welfare state."
