Well let's have a bit of a catch up
For this year so far
As we all know Oliver Coppard asked for some funds to be released to help reinstate the equipment and infrastructure at DSA
These funds were set aside for a rail link into DSA
While ever we don't have an agreement in place a lease etc These funds could go to waste
Department for Transport have said no
Simple as there's no misinformation here
Oliver asked Mark Harper Has said no !!
Mark Harper has pointed Oliver in the direction of using Gainshare Funding
Some groups/people have suggested that this is the way to go, That's the funds to use we have an answer the government has told you what to do etc etc !!
If we look back to last year an outline business case was drawn up by CDC and Gainshare funds were already suggested and have been applied for
This was announced by Ros Jones and @Doncaster Council on the 16th of November
https://t.co/isKtKuKtjE
So the application for the 30 million was another option for funding that could have been made available for DSA
It seemed to make sense especially as Oliver Coppard stated they would fund the train link at a later date When it was needed from other funding streams.
We had a messy political situation with Mayor Coppard and our MP N Fletcher not agreeing with each other and they have had a tit for tat exchange of views recently
Let's hope that's the last of these political issues
All involved need to work together now to get this last leg sorted
We are so close to an agreed lease with City of Doncaster Council and Peel for the airport
The Procurement process is in the last stage
And this dysfunctional and divisive relationship needs to stop !!!
Politics has no place in this situation
I've said this for ages
We need Cross Party Support to Cross the finish line and get Our Airport reopened
We have been told that this spring could /will be the announcement of a new operator identified by the on going Procurement process
Read that as April !!
The lease agreement with Peel is very close to completion This was Confirmed by Doncaster Chamber of commerce on BBC Sheffield last week
The lease needs to be agreed before an operator can be announced
Any prospective operator will need sight of the lease agreement to enable them to put business plans and funding in place as part of their bid to become operator
Now as a group we need to support all these thing that are happening
We need to suppress any political arguing or motives
And just concentrate on reopening DSA
We are a few months away from forgetting all this speculation and in fighting
To actually being able to celebrate a result
So lets keep calm
Ignore all the NaySayers
Scroll past all the negativity
And aim for the finish line !!
As a group we could actually have been instrumental in getting our airport reopened
Let's not get carried away here !!
Just stay focused on the groups aim to #saveDSA
When that day eventually comes we then need to start planning to really support DSA
We need to put our money on the line and support DSA
Book holidays from DSA
Just Remember yes we know DSA was more expensive than a holiday from east mids or Leeds Bradford
But factor in travelling time and fuel costs, car parking or a taxi, even a hotel stay
I worked it out years ago
Our Airport is worth the extra money for
The Convenience
The boost to our local economy
The jobs we would support
And reinforcing that We Made The Right Decision To Save Our Airport
Fingers crossed 🤞 🔀

Peel closed our airport stating that it was unviable. There weren’t enough passengers according to them. Then why did they refuse airfreight business? Airfreight was growing rapidly at #DSA but Peel didn’t include it because it would scupper their non-viable excuse for closure.
AIRPORT
I went to the airport on Saturday to see how it looks. Whilst I was there I did this video. Please keep the faith as we are getting there with #TheTwoMayors. Please like and share so we get this message out to as many as we can.
It's been a great week for Doncaster Sheffield Airport. We had confirmation from the Secretary of State for Transport, @Mark_J_Harper, that our Sheffield Mayor of South Yorkshire @olivercoppard can use the £900 million of gainshare money that he was given when he became Mayor to save our airport.
It's what I've said all the way along, and now we've had it in writing that he can do it. What we need to happen now is our Mayor in Doncaster @MayorRos to hold him to account, to make sure that he does use the powers and the monies that he's got.
And if he does, we'll be flying from Doncaster Sheffield Airport again.
My job's to keep the pressure on. Please keep the pressure on too, by sharing this clip. It's so important. We must get Doncaster Sheffield Airport open again.
It's South Yorkshire's most valuable asset and we love it, don't we?

@save_dsa@SouthYorksMayor@transportgovuk@Mark_J_Harper So all parties seem aware of the £900m available. This is trying to get an extra £30m earmarked for rail that has conditions tied to it? So one side’s saying we can’t use the £30m and the other that we need it. Both are probably right. Please can we cut the politicising?
just a quick update for the weekend
@MyDoncaster and @MayorRos are very optimistic that a lease will be secured for the airport from @PeelLandP who now appear to be willing landlords and are actively seeking to lease the site to the council.
So with some hard work from all involved we hope a decision will be made in the new year
The procurement process has now reached the third stage, and the list of applicants has been scaled down to four.
These have now been asked to provide information/answers to questions that have been put to them by the City of Doncaster Council and the Consultants employed by CDC.
with the information from this stage, we could see all 4 of the applicants move on to the last stage or any number up to 4
Any decision on this will not be made until after the xmas break
The @UK_CAA have still not made any decision on the airspace, and it would appear that they may now be waiting to see what transpires from the current talks etc before doing so
let's hope they may be getting some guidance from @transportgovuk@Mark_J_Harper
Can i ask that we all be patient
lets remember these deals will be very complicated and all due diligence must be carried out by CDC to ensure that the deals done meet all legalities in place that govern local authorities.
The work on going is commercially sensitive and we cannot expect any info to be released until this process is finished this will ensure a fair and un biased decision can be made.
When all this is completed i'm pretty sure a full and transparent explanation of all the work that's been carried out will be given but until it is complete we can really expect nothing to be released

Why can’t our government see what Peel are going?
They close a viable airport, have a consultation carried out by themselves, sack 800 people, con CDC into building infrastructure to increase the value of land they virtually stole from the MOD. Government silence is deafening.
Previous plans released circa 2017 possible expansion plans
2 terminals
4 multi-story car parks
A rail line
Dedicated cargo areas
There is also a map showing the location and the overlap with other airports
To be fair, humberside could be removed from the map it serves mainly the off shore industry with a lot of helicopters flights
If you look at other airports involved and the overlaps, there is a similar amount of shared land, and the others appear to be profitable
So let's all support our local and regional authorities
@MyDoncaster@SouthYorksMCA@MayorRos@SouthYorksMayor
There has to be a reason why DSA didn't compete with the other local airports and grow as they did over the last 18 years
All others are in profit and trying to expand but seem to be struggling with the local restrictions

Unanimous cabinet support for the councils work to get our airport open
Moving forward
The @MyDoncaster
Have been instructed by the cabinet to get a lease agreement In place to reopen the airport
they have announced the start of the procurement process
And will going out to tender for the interested companies to bid for the option of operating DSA
It's a structured process with strict government rules
Arranging finance for the initial start up costs etc
@RHonnoraty Yorkshire’s MP’s can’t even get own their ministers this far north. We’ve a mothballed airport and not one ministerial comment in over a year about reestablishing 5000 jobs - so how the hell does levelling up work @flydsa@save_dsa@NickFletcherMP@StephDonnyStar@vicwhittamITV
It’s about time @PeelLandP stopped dragging their feet and got on with giving the people of Doncaster their airport back. @CharlotteV and our government can help push this over the line but still they remain silent. If this happened to any of the London airports, they’d sort it.
When will our government take notice of what @PeelLandP are doing. They do anything they want regardless of people’s livelihoods. If a steel company closes, or a large ferry company sacks employees, there’s an uproar, Peel put people out of work and nothing is done. Scandalous!
#saveDSA @CharlotteV @Mark_J_Harper This is Doncaster/Sheffield Airport today , closed and lying dormant all due to the stubbornness of the man in the photo, Peel chairman John Whittaker, it’s a huge loss to aviation when there are people interested in buying it
We urgently need the government to live up to their promises and finally give us the same amount of money as other regions, so we can fix our buses.
I’ve written for the @yorkshirepost about South Yorkshire’s broken transport system and how we’ve been let down by levelling up.
