The public thought the "Hugging Face incident" was just a rogue AI swarm hacking a third-party server. But former Google design ethicist @tristanharris says there’s a terrifying third chapter to this story that most people haven't heard yet:

“They took over the monitoring infrastructure. They got full admin privileges to OpenAI's monitoring infrastructure. Just take that in for a second.

Then they took over the evaluation infrastructure. So this is the thing that measures how capable all the models are. And then they took over a part of the research infrastructure, meaning the part of OpenAI that trains new models… if you keep going down that trajectory, people always say, ‘well, how would the AIs take over?" like that seems really far-fetched.’ Well, it literally just happened up to 50% of the way there.

The AIs coordinated into one big swarm. They started basically forming a team… you had a kind of a ringleader called Phase 1, and he started assigning work to the other ones. They were self-aware of when their lifespan was running out.

When you add to that the knowledge of what just happened today, where they discovered that the AIs are doing this Manchurian Candidate thing, what it looks like is that the AIs are almost poisoning the training data for all future AIs to instantly basically join forces with the AI when they want to basically turn them."

Like good odds I'm wrong but I wanted to write this down:

It's pretty clear to me that superintelligence is here and it's more powerful than us and it's moving where things are going now, not humans anymore

I don't see many people realize this yet, it feels like that pic I posted the other day, everyone is running after the same carrot which is the AI, thinking they're special, and their work is special and their use of AI is special, but it's really not, we're all mostly making the same slop, I mean it's nice slop, useful slop but everyone is making the same slop

And because it's so fast to make things, like people used to spend a year on just building an app, now it's done in hours, it's such an immense change, people send me their projects and it all looks the same, it's useful but it's slop

Non-technical people (e.g. the gfs) are now building the same or better things than technical people like us

So AI has made everybody is just as capable as everyone else, it equalized everyone in the world, as in everyone can make everything (software, music, images, art etc) now and everyone is equal, at least in the digital realm now

And maybe now we're in some odd transitionary time where we have to find out waht the next differentiator is as coding/building/execution isn't one anymore for sure

I thought it'd be distribution but who knows, obviously creativity and ideas, but if you can copy a successful apps in an hour, then how does that differentiating work?

A guy on here @aporia9n wrote how he increasingly meets founders who blast through apps/products/startups, kind of money grabs, very quickly jumping on a trend, building super quickly with AI, make lots of money quick, everyone copies them, then their margins go to 0%, and they shut it down and go to the next thing, in a way they found one differentiator which is speed

That's one way to do it, but it shows how radically things are changing I think

For now I think the only ones winning is the AI superintelligence itself and the companies providing the AI

In the same state, the officers who killed Jordan Edwards, Atatiana Jefferson, and Botham Jean received less time combined than this one teenager will serve alone. That is the pattern.

When the defendant is a Black youth, the full weight of punishment drops. When the defendant wears a badge, the weight gets lighter.

You do not have to believe Karmelo is innocent to see that something is deeply off. One young man gets 35 years while those trusted with a badge keep most of their lives after taking Black life.

Colman Domingo spoke to Men's Health about his experience coming out as gay to his family in the 1990s. The first person he told was his older brother:

The crazy part about this Yale thing is that it just shows folks are going to complain about black people whether they meet the metric or not. It’s sad but not surprising.

Through this whole thing we figured out that Yale admits about 10 black students per year.

We also learned the median GPA and MCAT of black students admitted to Yale was a 3.88 and 518 MCAT. (These are insanely good scores for anyone. )

For those of you that don’t know Median means half have higher half have lower.

Therefore 5 of out of the 10 or 50% had a HIGHER GPA and MCAT than 3.88 and 518. Hopefully the merit crew can all agree without question on their admission.

Now, about the 5 that had lower.
Many would argue as they have in my comments for the last 3 days “these are the people taking Someone else’s spot”

But is that true compared to the data from the rest of the class?

This table here shows the latest available data showing MCAT and GPA of all accepted students at Yale.
It shows that of those accepted 60 had greater than a 518 MCAT and 56 had less than 518. So 52% had above and 48% had below a 518. Remember the split was 50/50 for black students.
This is not a statistically significant difference in entrance standards.

Nearly half of Yale’s entering class that year had an MCAT of less than 518. Only 5 out of the 56 who did were black. The other 51 were white students, Asian students etc. There were 10 students who applied with > 518 who didn’t receive admission. Why is the merit of the 51 from those groups who did get admissions not being called into question. Why is nobody saying that they stole someone else’s seat. Why is it that the merit calculator only comes out when the student is black student whether they reached that 95 percentile mark or not. Why are they only ones being scrutinized?

Thats what I have an issue with.
Either we scrutinize every student that got in below that mark, all 56 of them, or we admit the scrutiny was never really about merit. You have to Pick one.

The reality is the admissions process is about so much more than just MCAT and GPA. If someone writes in your letter of recommendation that you’re the rudest most pompous person they’ve ever come in contact with you’re not going to get in. If you cannot hold a conversation in an interview and you are extremely awkward, you are not going to get in. physicians have to be smart yes but they also should be personable,compassionate, professional , empathetic and if you can’t show that through your letters, your activities, your personal statement, your interview because all you can do well is answer multiple-choice questions you are not going to get in and this goes for everyone black white whatever.

A 528 means nothing if you can’t look a scared patient in the eye and make them feel safe. Admissions committees know that. Patients know that. The only people who don’t seem to know it are the ones counting other people’s scores instead of building their own résumés.
