@ferrell_travis@jesse_k_fox I also don’t like being told what to think…
But in many other setting we usually learn a lot from others experiences even if they are anonymous or we only know their name (obviously).
I’m just glad to hear you say you would actually listen to someone you know experiencing this
@ferrell_travis@jesse_k_fox I’m just not following.
With your same logic you wouldn’t read a holocaust survivor book with their stories because it would somehow invalidate (or not convey the same story) as a survivor you personally know?
We apply others’ stories for ourselves or others for gain often.
@jesse_k_fox A lot will/have rejected it because they are simply afraid. This topic is scary and uncomfortable. We are taught our whole lives to run, or avoid those types of feelings. Some will claim the data is this or that. Perhaps, but it’s very rare for this kind of data to be perfect.
Jacob, with the influence you’ve built, you have a unique ability to bring people together. That’s why I think it’s worth asking: when someone within your own faith is trying to build bridges, foster understanding, and reduce division, why not strengthen those efforts rather than undermine them?
You’ve worked hard for years to build your platform, and you’ve been remarkably successful at reaching audiences few others can. That influence matters.
I’m all for a healthy push and pull. We need to be challenged, this is how growth occurs. But there’s a difference between sharpening a perspective and tearing down a person. In my view, we can push back, ask hard questions, and engage in meaningful conversations while still elevating everyone involved.
@Latterdaytruth She’ll get exed but then this thought will get workshopped by the church and it will be revealed a few years from now to do exactly what she’s saying… she’s still toast though. At least, that’s usually the pattern of things.
@VVenerabilis This is simple Church CYA. Nothing more, literally just on the back of the release forms. We handed these out with a packing list for our trip this coming week.
@cf__davey@VVenerabilis The sportsbro agenda is real. Apparently they think their equal or even greater love of things like Star Wars, movies or painting figurines is an ethically and certainly greater moral pursuit.
