In January 2023 Sunak promised he would make 5000 more NHS hospital beds available by winter.

Since then, there has been a *decrease* of 2,675 beds.

NEW: there’s been a lot of chatter about why cases, hospitalisations and deaths are much higher in the UK than elsewhere in Western Europe.

I think a lot of the commentary has been overly simplistic, politicised and at-times flat-out wrong.

The health secretary has Covid.

The prime minister & chancellor are in isolation.

Yesterday we had over 700 new hospital admissions for Covid.

And over 50,000 new cases.

We’re *already* having to cancel cancer ops.

And.. tomorrow is “Freedom Day”?? 😳
