A Fallen Inkotanyi Commander Remembered by His Friend, Afande Twahirwa Dodo

Among the commanders of the RPA Inkotanyi who took part in Rwanda’s liberation struggle and the effort to stop the Genocide against the Tutsi, the name of Commander Cyiza Willex remains one to remember.

Cyiza Willex served as the commander of Charlie Battalion during the operations around Byumba and its surrounding areas. He was among the commanders entrusted with leading his forces during a difficult period of the liberation struggle, when courage, discipline and determination were essential.

As a battlefield commander, Cyiza carried the responsibility of leading his troops through challenging operations. His contribution formed part of the wider effort by the RPA Inkotanyi to advance, protect civilians and ultimately bring an end to the genocide and liberate the country.

Cyiza’s story is also one of comradeship and friendship. He shared the struggle with fellow commanders, including Afande Col. Twahirwa Ludovic (Dodo), who commanded the wider operation.

Cyiza later passed away, leaving behind comrades, family and a legacy connected to the liberation struggle. In remembering him, Afande Twahirwa Dodo spoke of Cyiza as his friend, recalling the bond they had shared. He referred to that friendship while speaking at Cyiza’s child’s wedding, offering a deeply personal remembrance of a fallen comrade.

Those words are important because they remind us that behind the military ranks and battalions were people who shared difficult experiences, trusted one another and formed bonds that continued even after the loss of a comrade.

Commander Cyiza Willex was more than the commander of Charlie Battalion. He was a son, a father, a comrade and a friend whose life became part of Rwanda’s liberation history.

May the memory of Commander Cyiza Willex continue to be honored. 🇷🇼❤️

Hier, William Ruto a lancé la construction d’une nouvelle ligne ferroviaire au Kenya qui atteindra la frontière ougandaise, en invitant le président Ougandais Yoweri Museveni. De son côté, Museveni prévoit aussi de prolonger le réseau vers la RDC :
