The test for any "AI will fix X" pitch: if the tech were perfect and free tomorrow, would the problem go away?
Often, no.
Medical records don't move between systems because holding the data is good business, not because the tech doesn't exist.
Housing is expensive because of zoning, not lack of construction knowledge.
Drug prices are set by patents and middlemen, not manufacturing cost.
My favorite example: insurers now use AI to deny prior auths. Providers use AI to appeal them. AI fighting AI inside a bureaucracy nobody would design on purpose.
AI is powerful where the bottleneck is scarce expertise. It's nearly useless where someone benefits from the problem staying broken.
@MichaelRippe America's best kept secret. Winter isn't that bad because of climate change they've become mostly mild winters. There's always something to do or going on either way. Layer up and be out and about.
Retail pharmacies cut 8200 pharmacists positions last year.
There are over 320,000 pharmacists in this country and nearly half work outside of retail.
Pharmacists are also the lowest hanging fruit for AI to take away jobs. Much of the job is pattern recognition and edge cases can be send to humans for verification.
Between terrible working conditions and AI doing automatic verification this may be the first healthcare doctorate position to be mostly eliminated by AI.
@violavain AI adoption is bad bc incumbents also need to keep collecting their checks and have the power to pace AI in their organizations. There will be mass adoption at some point and joblessness will be painful before the eventual creation of new categories of jobs entirely
@a16z No one is ever out of the game very long at the top. They said the same about open AI and anthropic. Even about Google. Nobody is really running away with it
@Olking07 I'd say there are plenty of people rooting for this so wealthy and corporations can buy up housing and everyone without property becomes renters
@b4dgerr Interesting post from another builder who said your audience and followers shouldn't be fellow builders, it should be your target for selling.
What is still over regulated in 2026:
- new housing due to parking restrictions
- buying a car from a manufacturer
- new sunscreen blockers
- adding an MRI to a hospital
- occupational licenses like flower arranging
Some regulations do save lives but the hearing aid didn't go OTC until 2022. Were focused on the wrong regulations.
@MomAngtrades I think if you bought a house before the rates started climbing the last few years and your kids were out of daycare before early 2020s you were in a solid position.
Adulting is hard.
The hardest parts are figuring out what needs to be done, the priority and order, who will do it.
Maybe instead of the cute little muse and dots they can advertise the adult in the room.
You make more than most Americans but money goes fast. That's the American experience. TONS of people are making really good money but spending it at equal rates. And lots of people bought houses or refinanced at lower rates so they have the extra cash. Many people complain about not having enough money bc they don't want to save it. The $12k on vacations became a must have instead of a luxury.
@LiebermanAustin They won't be needed sooner than later. AI agents can do their jobs for them. All the hand holding they talk about can be done with AI and without bias of commission
Most people don't even know what agents are.
But what they do know is that the same people who became rich off tech the last 10-15 years are pushing AI and a narrative that average people's livelihoods will be taken from them.
They also see the consolidation of power at the top from those promoting AI. It really shouldn't be shocking why their views are in the majority
Legacy systems attempting to become AI forward in healthcare: "we are giving the end user a completely new and unusable UI because it makes it easier and faster for the tech team to ship new products"
In startups this type of optimizing for tech over user would fail. In legacy systems it's the norm.
It's been only 1.5 years since claude code first came out.
We forget that just before that the biggest use cases being sold: chat bot & video slop.
The decision to focus on code will be studied. One decision that led to a 2 trillion dollar company in less than two years.
