A warm, wise, and compassionate leader, Senator Lillian Dyck has spent her entire career championing the causes of Indigenous women and families. I’d like to thank the Senator for her many years of selfless service and advocacy, and wish her the very best in retirement.
Expanded active transportation networks have emerged as an effective tool for cities to fight against the pandemic and provide more safe space for people to walk, bike and roll. https://t.co/JFbmd6HG6f
THREAD: Wide, separated bike lanes are being built on a 6 km stretch of rue Saint-Denis in Montreal. Two out of four traffic lanes are being removed to make room for the bike lanes. However, nearly all on-street parking spaces are being preserved.
@Partunia Everyone is worried about all the "undesirable" people downtown but they want to cut all the social services. I don't understand how they can't see the connection between helping people and less crime.
Thank you to @IPSKsocial for this beautiful and powerful reminder to see each person in our community as an equal. Newcomers are integral to our community and welcome in #saskatoon. It’s up to each of us to take the time to really see.
I urge you to watch the video #yxe
Sen. Lillian Dyck’s story is one of speaking truth to power all her life. From the sexism and racism of the 50s and 60s at the @usask (and it continues) to fending off racism in the the Parliament with the likes of Lynn Beyak. A true warrior. @CBC was this in your national news?
If you’re interested in how to get a complete network of downtown protected bike-lanes built, the pilot/trial run by “conservative” #Calgary may be the best I’ve seen in North America. From a barely approved pilot, to UNANIMOUS SUPPORT TO MAKE IT PERMANENT.

We’re just beggining to realize all of the missed opportunities that have been locked away in our cities and towns when we choose to look at our streets exclusively as places for cars.

Just sayin’.. its high time we got our road construction priorities straight.
I support the policy change from @RETSDschools. There arent enough school buses & cycling that distance to school is done by hundreds of millions of kids worldwide. The missing piece is @cityofwinnipeg’s plan to help those kids. Otherwise school zones will be full of cars at 8am.
Reading through just one school division’s transportation plans for reopening here. Now kids 2.5km away have no bus to @RETSDschools. Choice is car, walk or bike. Our road authorities should be responding w plans to support the healthy choice. @SafeSeptemberMB, I’d like to help.
Outdoor learning can play a role. It was the way here for 1000s of years. Finnish schools now spend long stretches outside, biking or skiing in winter. Kids’ bodies need to move to stay healthy. We need a plan to help kids walk or bike to school & learn traditional knowledge.
Had a great commute to work this morning using the new bike lanes on University Avenue. Cycling is a key part of our city’s transportation network and this safe, separated #ActiveTO cycling route will give residents more ways to safely get around our city.
@RobNorrisSK Leadership means understanding this simple but often unpopular math, and leading people to change counterproductive behavior.
Still wanting to discuss these matters with you. I'm busy, but will make time. #skpoli#thewaroncars#yxevotes
A strong recovery depends on strong cities and communities. This new initiative can offer help to local leaders as we work to turn national recovery efforts into concrete results for Canadians and build more prosperous, resilient and connected #cdnmuni. #cdnpoli#COVID19
